    Silver Star lamps

SO I know that everyone has had bad experiences with Silver Star lamps and say that the issue is with the cheap tai made version, and the German one's are good. Well, I had a Silver Star lamp go out this past w/e so I dropped by the brick and mortar parts store this afternoon to purchase a new one. They had some Silver Stars I had never seen before so I decided to give a try. When I opened them up sure enough they were stamped made in germany on the metal surround. I found them at Pep Boys if anyone is interested and if you have this store in ur area?

I had HID's.. they lasted about 8 months and then started to flake out. I got one replacement ballast that lasted maybe 45 days and the fucking things would intermittently change from high to low or one side high and one side low... put in a set of the Sylvania Ultra's and haven't had a single issue. Granted there isn't salt spray or humidity to deal with so much, but knock on wood they have been solid.

Edit: the European version are marketed under the name Osram. If it says Sylvania on the box those are the US version. Maybe they moved production for the US version. Not sure. How are they? Brighter then the old ones?

Well, as for the brightness they seem on par with the lesser Silver Stars but seems to me the K could be a lil more on the white side? Like I said before these are not the US version as I have been purchasing they are clearly stamped made in Germany? I should also note they come with a one year guarantee which I know is not a lot but something is better than nadda no?

Well my silverstars seemed to last just past the year long warranty and then crap out. It's gets really annoying the second time around.
