    2nd Gen Rear Brakes

I thought I would put the references here so that if and when you do yours it will be in one place.

So, I'm about to put my rear brakes back on the Taco and would like to get rid of the Cast Iron aftermarket wheel cylinders and can't find a rebuild kit for the OEM (aluminum Advics 15/16" bore); The only reason I currently have cast iron ones is that is all Broker and I could find the day I blew one - wheel cylinder that is. Has anyone found one a rebuild kit for the Advics? TIA

    They use AISIN rubber peices.

The external rubber cover is AISIN p/n 144511-10050.

The piston seal is AISIN p/n 144531-24010

Before I finished whining... I think I have found what I need - rebuild kit for a T100

The Dorman Part number for the 15/16" Al Wheel Cyl rebuild kit is 352126

    The application list is here:
    http://www.rbinc.com/da-32273-352126.aspx

It only lists 89-02 4runners and 93-98 T100s - strange that NO ONE lists the correct one for a 2009 Taco and want you to replace it with the cast iron unit. - I personally like some of the details to the OE casting like the two 'drip bumps.' Oh well, I hope this helps one person in not having to go through the online ordering of kits that don't work and the local wild goose chase I've been on!

Oh yeah, if you haven't done this before, soak the piston seals in DOT 3 for a couple of hours before you try to stretch them on to the pistons.

One last thing - you could get an OEM wheel cylinder for about $40 each online but call me 'challenged' these days and I thought an extra $6 kit in my tool box for trips wouldn't be a bad thing to bring. Hell, I've toted a CV around that I have never used (stopped carrying that thing around).

$6 kit is better than a 3hr drive for parts. But u did get to drive it home

Picking it up in two weeks then driving cross country with it, got the timing belt and water pump changed out on it last week. Found the leak it had. The water pump was shot on it.

I'll agree w Sean on the cold shower. If the Tacoma wasn't going LT the runner would. I just couldn't justify LT on the runner.

I was checking out camburg at the Offroad expo, and will prob end up doing a custom spring under bed cage in the rear. Debating if I wanna just sell the whole bed while it's nice and straight or try to keep stock look as long as possible. I like the stock look but have a feeling that once that first cut goes into the bed I'll want to tube the whole thing.

I like Camburg stuff. TC is probably the most well developed if you look at the coil gussets and stuff but you could do the same with Camburg stuff. I would sell the bed complete. It could pay for the fiberglass and 1/2 the bed cage! Once you cut it, well, you will have a $100 bed!
