    Winches

Ok I'm in the market for a winch, and didn't see any threads about pros/cons or reviews of any winches. So what do you guys use or recommend. With the relentless bumper I'll be getting, I'm limited to the remote mounted solenoid type winches, so integrated ones are out at least for my selection.

I'm looking at getting a Warn M8000-s or 9.5xp-s, since Warn just came out with their Spydura synthetic rope. Thoughts?

Warn. I have the M8000 with Masterpull Superline. It works great. But since you have more mud around there I'd recommend the 9.5XP.

I wished I had a 9.5 one point in the snow last year in CO. There is WARN and then there are the others. A lot of the "others" are made in the same factory and just come off the line with different logos and packaging. I just got 3 different brands in the store and I still wouldn't buy anything but WARN even though the others are cheaper and still get the job done.

Superwinch makes a great unit as well. I thought about getting one for the Raisin.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking the 9500 lb just to be on the safe side, the M8000 might cut it close with full armor and loaded up with gear. I also see warn has a $50 rebate until end of December for their holiday sale

Obviously there are alot of winch brands out there but I want a winch that will work when I need it to, I'm not trying to skimp on a winch if this is what I'm counting on to get me out of the middle of nowhere on a trail. I like the fact that warn has the lifetime warranty for the mechanical components.

Whatever you get if I were you I would get it from Quadratec in West Chester. That way if you have any issues that need warranty repair you can drive it back instead of paying for shipping and you won't have to pay to get it shipped the first time either....just some gas and tolls.

I thought about that but I can get it for almost $300 cheaper than Quadratec offers which includes free shipping and they will include a free wireless remote too which is another $150 on top of that, so saving close to $500. Damnit I can't go one week without buying something for the Taco

I don't really get paychecks, the $$ is almost spent before it even comes in

Hopefully after winch purchase the big ticket items are done for this build, I've been eying up the 80s series trucks lately tho so that won't be good for the wallet

    http://www.clemson4wheel.com/

They are in SC so not too far if it needs to be returned to them for service, they are also a Warn authorized service center.

I think I will be picking up the 9.5xp-s by the end of this week, this is the cheapest I've seen that winch and I've checked around a few places. Spent a few good hours at work checking

Clemson 4wheel is where my M8000 came from. That guy is a wheeling legend in the southern Jeep community.
