    Blower motor cutting off

So a few weeks ago my blower motor would not come on. After about 10 minutes of driving it came back on. It has been kinda noisy since spring but nothing the radio and tire noise does not cover up.
Today the motor cut off again and after 10 minutes on the highway it turned back on.
I am under warranty still but don't think I will gave time to make it to the dealer for a while. Can anyone point me to a place to start looking if this might be a quick easy fix to save myself some time at the dealer?

Take it in. A lot of.people have problems with those.

But if you take out your glove box, the blower motor is located under that.

I think there was a TSB for it where they were replacing the blowers. Check tard world I'm sure it's over there somewhere.

Did a little searching over there and found it.

    T-SB-0162-11

It sounds like there is a new style that came out last month. I guess I will be calling the dealer to see what they can do.

There's an updated blower motor assembly. The old one is known to make noise and stop working at times. The problem, blower motors were being produced in Japan and the tsunami took out the facility. They are on back order so it be a while before getting one through Toyota.
I sure hope that ghetto fab (part) that I made holds.

I will be curios to see how long the wait is when I call tomorrow. Any idea what the part# is for the updated blower motor?

2nd gen issue. Mine chirps like a bird in my 08'. I'm 34k out of warranty though so the radio gets turned up

I think it's a plastic on plastic issue with POS bushings.

I called the dealer today and the service advisor said I was the 3rd person in the last week with the same problem. I tried to get her to order the parts and I just drop it off when they get here but she said I had to bring it in first.
Mine has done the bird chirping noise as well. Right now it sounds like a baseball card stuck in bicycle spokes.
Hey Lyndall, how long did it take the dealer to install the motor?

Took them about an hour when I had it done last year. At the time they had one in stock and replaced it same day I brought it in.

Pull out your cabin filter and make sure you've got nothing in there before you take it in...

Everything on this truck is built this way

My blower motor squeals during the winter time and the clutch pedal creaks during the summer, every once in a while I'll catch a good fall weather day where the truck is quiet but then my flowmaster comes and ruins it

I've had leaves make it in there even with the filter installed so this is definitely something to check. I know the leaves sounded alot different than this bird chirping mine makes.

Yeah, I had a ton of leaves in mine. Mine chirps everytime the weather gets cold. Once it gets warm, it stops. So during the winter, the radio gets turned up louder.

mine only has 18k on it and 2 years old so that has nothing to do with it i'm thinking.. just shitty blower motor parts, guess I'll call and set up an apointment and use this 100k warranty.

I'm guessing you have sticks or some debris in there, but if you have the bird chirp it's done and time for a new one.

I wish....I would of saved a ton of money so far, but didn't think a Toyota would fall apart so quickly.
