Neither are real issues in TX... no public land to help manage

But I always clean up the camp ground we stay at and take out more trash than I bring in... and only dump mattresses in the woods every now and then

Yes, yes and no... In our area trail cutting means closing!

I had a habit instilled as a young kid. It was to have a bag for trash every time we went on a hike or backpacking. I have picked up more Bud light cans than I could have ever purchased. When I backpack in local areas I usually have a black back full of trash - in some areas heavier than my backpack. When I go to the desert I bring back tires that I drop off at a local tire shop. I pick up more crap from our trails than I care to admit!

Yes I do more than many and less than a few.

But there are issues - who knows with your help you may end up with a place to wheel that you don't have now!

I've cut a few trails at HF. Snoopy Walls west and part of Wildcat stairway. But that was a while ago, before the park had many trails.. now they are all over. Not too much maintenance required around here.. folks just run the shit over. Only folks that cut new trails are Land Rover owners, they cut bypasses.

I've cut out numerous trails at BMRA, totally new ones as well as clearing out the lesser driven trails. Always sucks when your going down a trail and a 20" oak has fallen across the trail.

At places like windrock with 80,000 acres and hundreds of trails one person in the group always carries a chainsaw for that reason, especially early in the season.....
