Dual Batteries with 200 AMP Issolator

So I'm going to finally do it right.

I've had a 'new' Yellow Top in my garage for about a year or more.

    Using the following:
    • 1 Optima - forget the AH rating (I would do this part differently today )
    • 15 feet of 0/2 Cable (96.3% efficient vs 97.0% efficent for the 0/3 cable)
    • PAC200 200 Amp Battery Issolator in Phenolic Housing
    • 2 - 200 Amp Fuses - one at the alternator and one at the battery (alternator one in-line with s/s hardware and clear shrink wrap and battery one in fuse box mounted next to battery)

    • 8 - 0/2 Copper Lugs (one to connect to the alternator out, two for installing the in-line fuse, two for connecting to the issolator , two to connect to the fuse near the battery and one to connect the battery ground to the chasiss)
    • 12 - ~5/8" insulated clamps to attach the cable to the chassis.
    • 1 - 6 fuse, fuse block with indicator lights (same as picture but 6 fuse slots)
    • 2 - cigar lighter outlets (one for frig and one for RTT accessories - disco lights, massaging fingers, rotating mirrored ball, sex toys, etc.
    • Stainless Hardware to put the in-line fuse (2 - 8 mm x 12 mm and 2 8 mm nylok nuts)
    • 1" wide clear shrink wrap to incapulate the in-line fuse and cover the ends of the lugs

MY QUESTION of the day is HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET THAT Plastic Cover off of the Alternator Lead?
If anyone knows, please let me know!

Torque to the side with your hand while pulling back towards yourself. It can be a PIA to get off, you just have to wiggle and juggle it till it pops off. It's always easier to get off the second time.

I really need to add another battery to the Tundra.

So to add to the 'build' of my second battery 'rig' I've added the following to the BOM...
    • 8 - 0/2 Terninals (one to connect to the alternator out, two for installing the in-line fuse, two for connecting to the issolator , two to connect to the fuse near the battery and one to connect the battery ground to the chasiss)
    • 12 - ~5/8" insulated clips to attach the cable to the chassis.
    • 1 - 6 fuse, fuse block with indicator lights
    • 2 - cigar lighter outlets (one for frig and one for RTT accessories - disco lights, massaging fingers, rotating mirrored ball, sex toys, etc.

Hell the battery was the cheapest part of this thing. Next time I'll just run some jumpers and throw a battery between the wheel well and the exhaust manifold!

You'd be surprised how much juice those electric steps use. Open the door 5 times without starting the truck and it damn near won't start.

Any bets on if the Optima is still good after a year of no use. Sorry

My dual battery ran WAY over budget! It all adds up fast! I bet I had an easy $800 bucks in it (with battery).

    What gauge did you use?

Well my buddy manages a shop and sold it to me Dirt Cheap - If it lasts, that's cool. If not, I warranty it and then sell it to someone as new! You know what I would be gettting afterwards dont you! Oh yeah and every time i mention the $225 dollar Odessy, he poo poo's it. We'll see.

2/0.. went with the 12VoltGuy in-cab winch controller/dual battery controller. It came with an isolator. Also used the Summit Racing battery NHRA approved battery box.. bought the fuse holders and terminals from a stereo shop.

No just that he sells Optima so anything else is not an option.
