1st gen Taco ADD to Manual front diff swap

I'm planning on pulling the ADD out of my '01 Taco and swapping it with the manual hubs/diff that is currently in my '98.
I know most say that the ADD CVs are stronger than the manual CVs but I have multiple reasons for going the route I am going.
The manual hub diff under the '98 is already set up with 4:88s and a locker, so I want to keep those. Also, I like the option of being able to unlock the hubs if a CV breaks and also to avoid excessive wear on the CVs during on highway driving.
I don't believe this part of the swap will be any problem, most likely just unplug the ADD electronics, zip tie the plug out of the way, stick the manual set in and go.

    My options on the ’98:
I still have the stock manual hub 4:10 diff that I originally pulled out of this truck. But I will need the manual spindle/hub assembly to put back in this truck. So IF I can find a manual spindle/hub assembly I will go this route, which is what I really would rather do. (Anybody have a manual hub/spindle set lying around?)
If I cannot find manual hub/spindles I plan on putting the ADD diff under the ’98. This is where the questions are. Most swaps I’ve searched are ADD to manual, so I will need to figure out how to activate the ADD without getting overly complex and hacking a bunch of crap up.
If anyone has some leads on a set of manual hubs/spindles or info about putting the ADD into a non-ADD truck let me know. Otherwise I’ll fill in as I get the work done.

I know a guy that has that setup. He had to go back to a guy that was making those hubs to get a replacement. Off Road Solutions kit is what he had and what he got. Apparently the guy will still put stuff together although he's not in business anymore.

electronic ADD uses the same circuitry as the elocker and there are several people who sell kits that will activate and deactivate the elocker (or ADD) without any factory wiring

All you need to get your ADD working is a 12V ignition source and a DPDT switch or relay. A few people sell the kits already..12voltguy is one that comes to mind

I thought the ADD was 5 volt or some-some less than 12

Hmm...well maybe the first gens are different but I thought they used the same theory. I was giving Wyatt a few ideas the other week, I hope they were the right ones!

This is pretty much what I was thinking I could do to activate the ADD. My thought was to energize a relay off the 4wd light to activate the ADD.
Using the ADD is my second choice behind just finding manual hubs and spindles from a donor. I'm going to continue looking for those for a while before doing the swap.

I don't know any thing about this swap but thought I'd add something if it helps, I've got my front diff out of the runner now and w the add unplugged my 4x4 light just flashes, so I dont know if the idea of just unplugging the current one and putting the manual in will work w out doing some wiring to the plug. There might be info out there on this but didn't see it mentioned here.

With a manual t-case, 4x4 will still work fine. Though mine is older, I converted from ADD to manual and I don't get a flashing light or anything.

I'm guessing the manual has some sort of sensors on it that tell the ecu that the 4x4 is engaged? Is the same plug used between the add diff and the manual diff? Only missing some wires with the manual hub.

There's no wires/ sensors in the "manual diff"

Todd, I have been told the spindles are the same.. is that not the case?

The part number for my 02runner is the same for either the 4wd or the 2wd spindle if that helps any.
