I'll be doing this soon as well. Here's another small write-up about tubbing for 35s on another 1st gen.... pretty much same information as the ttora write-up but hey, more research before cutting up your firewall can't hurt right???
BTW, why'd you choose 4.88s over 4.56s for gears? All the 2nd gen guys I've talked to (granted, that's not a whole lot) with 35s and 4.88s say they would have gone with 4.56s if they could do it over again....
Yeah, around town it was great, but out in the hill country and up in the mountains it got to be a pain to have to downshift all the time because of all the extra weight from armor lift and sliders. When I was overgeared (4.56 with 32s) it drove alot better and my gas mileage wasn't any worse for it (corrected for speedo error).
If you're going to put 35's on your '99, then I'd definitely go with 4.88 or higher. 4.88 puts you at factory ratio if you have the 3.4l v6 and 35s
