that is what i want to do but have not found a good option. mercedes has an older diesel that woould be cool. the 3.4 is the best bet but a 2.7 or a built 22re would be my favorite choice.

Just have to know where to look

Fab work is awesome, I would just lower it about 3-4 inches, or put taller tires on it.

That is probably the coolest Solid Axel Toyota build I've ever seen!

x2! I totally agree! Makes me rethink installing a 4.3 or 5.3. I'd just like to see horsepower and torque numbers. Because as cool as it is, it still needs to perform. :)

The best thing about diesel is that more power is easy to generate. Just add boost. Their build super solid and since the detonation principles are different, you can add tons of boost before shit starts to break.

Ive met the guy who runs Dieseltoys.com. Hes real cool but its so expensive because he pretty ships the entire front end of the diesel version of your truck from japan to america and then puts it on your truck.

I've read that about those swaps. Mark (007Tacoma) used to be big into the diesel swaps and lived in San Antonio. He mentioned that shop often.

Finding a way..
I've just started looking into swapping my engine at around 200k for a diesel. My company does a ton of business in latin and Sout america, and I'm also wondering if I shouldnt just buy a hilux and ship it....of course, this is after I finish my damn degree and get a sweey pay increase...i'm still a poor college kid..

I saw were some guy had put that 3 cylinder cummens in his 1st gen and did a shit SAS on it too, he was using it in a mine or something. I wouldn't mind swapping one into the 87.

He'll yeah!!!, it would be real good in a MT because of all the off idle torque. Combine that with a crawlbox and lookout rocks!!!!
