No luck finding my son's deer. Good steady blood trail for about 100 yrds then it turned to drips then nothing. We fanned out and searched in grids, but I have a feeling we jumped it and he hauled ass over to to the neighbors place and vanished. I hate we couldn't recover it, but he learned a valuable lesson on taking your time when taking a long distance shot. It's a shame because it was a huge deer rack/body.

On another note, I dropped mine off at my buddies house for a euro mount.

My friend shot 1 of the big deer we have been watching on camera for the last several months. 182 yards with 25-06. At first he and I couldn't find blood and thought maybe he missed. Came back to the house and our other friend insisted to go look for blood again. Picked up blood trail pretty quick and found him about 70 yards piled up. Perfect shot behind the shoulder. 17.5" wide and guessing 5 1/2 years old.

Nice, I haven't even been out hunting yet. Been too hot or too rainy for me to want to go sit out there. I think we're still good on meat for the next year so there's not much pressure for this season. Might take one or two doe just to refresh the freezer. Got some big'ns on camera so I might try to get one for the wall. We'll see. I'm kinda being more turned on to pig hunting with my bow now than deer hunting. I could use some more pork backstrap.

Had to have a wall re-framed in the house and got my heads back up. Added two new ones and the symmetry makes me very happy fella. All taken from Hamilton and Mills counties.

Was feeling merciful this morning and watched this guy give me a perfect shot about 10 times in 45 minutes at about 20-30 yards

There are bigger. He wouldn't win the contest but he would be a good archery kill. We’ll see how merciful I feel if he pushes his luck and shows again.
