Boomtacoma's Buggy Build

The Red truck has served it purpose, time for an upgrade on visibility and capability and try not to go broke in the process.
Starting with a Wende XL Chassis out of Arizona. Put a deposit down last week.
LetzRoll is going to build the axles (both diffs will be offset to the driver side) and I will pick the chassis up as a roller from Adam.

Chassis: Wende XL 115" Wheelbase
Drivetrain: 3RZ, A340, Atlas II 5.0, boost it.
Axles: LetzRoll Offroad Steering 9s at 9" WMS Super Duty outers, Ball Joint Deletes, Branik Shafts, (Potentially) Gearworks 10" thirds $$$, PSC 3"x9" Steering Rams, Radial Dynamics Steering pump, resi and rear steer goodies, ADS short body 2.5" Air Shocks 14" and 16"
Wheels: BFG 42s on Raceline Avenger 20s
Other: PRP seats, Winch, Switch Pros panel, Baja Designs Lights, Cooler, Fuel Cell, Second Gen Toy skins

Just picking up the ancillary, lower cost items as I go and working on the 3rz/Trans while splitting my time with the Red truck #1 and Red truck #2.

The axles were dropped off at the builders place last week. Hoping to be heeded that way in mid December to pick it up.

Bought some PRP low back seats, a GW HP 10" 3rd, Branik 1550 U joints and a bunch of other expensive shit over the past few weeks.

I may do a Hi 9 in the front. The 10" HP rear is a thing of beauty but $$

I got some work done over the past week. Started on engine placement and motor mounts. They sill need to be braced/boxed and cleaned up a little.

Mocked up the 93 lb GW10 in the front axle to check for clearance issues. None found thank god. Its a beast to move by yourself.

Added the fill plugs to both axles.

Tacked in the winch mount.

I ordered a 24x15.5 Griffin Radiator, Jaz fuel cell, and some plumbing parts for the Radial Dynamics steering components which should be in over the next few days.

I've decided to Boost the 3rz. collecting more parts now.

750cc injectors, Pulsar 3067 T3 turbo, GLFab manifold, 44mm WG and all the other stuff will start trickling in.

Pretty sure I'm going the Haltech 1500 and full engine harness...

I'm still waiting on my transmission to get back from the rebuild and output shaft/tail housing swap.

I'll get that mocked up and measure my clearances for my Atlas and front driveshaft.

The forward facing intake showed up this past week as a birthday present (to myself) hopefully it all clears the TB.
Also shown is the Bling RZ fuel rail from GLFab.

Installed a Felpro gasket, Felpro plug seals and a Radium 10AN swivel fitting on the valve cover

I finally got my A340/AW4 transmission back from the shop. I ended up getting it fully rebuilt along with a new Torque converter.
I started the mock up process last night and am pretty happy where everything is positioned. I have about a 1.5" clearance to the bottom of the subframe and adequate room to fabricate a skid for the rear sump RZ oil pan.

For those who haven't dicked with an 2/3RZ, the valve cover does not sit level in the engine bay. It took a little persuasion to get the engine cocked over about 15 degrees to level out the transmission. The bellhousing is basically even with the front upper link mount locations. I'll need to tweak my motor mount concept a little better.

What I was ultimately shooting for was a one piece front DS. Looks like it is possible at least. I'm picking up my buddies mock up Atlas 2 on Friday to check the clearances between the subframe and potential engine and DS paths/lengths/orientations.

Started mocking up the Griffin Radiator that came in last week. I'm going to rake it back enough to keep it entirely within the engine compartment. It need to be taken back a tad more in this pic to get the radiator cap lower. I should be able to get the positions of the Wide Open Design Alum pucks in place so my buddy can get them glued to the radiator for me. This will also buy me some room for any additional fluid coolers I may want to install in front of it.

Still just mocking shit up. Borrowed a mock up Atlas 2. Drivetrain is offset to make a little room for the Atlas/Driveshaft.

Threw a seat in to see where its going to live. It looks higher in the pics since the door bar is lowered. I have a good 5-6 inches from the top of my head (with a helmet on) to the roof.

The motor mounts, and radiator mount tacked in. I used some 1/4" rubber washers to act as isolators at each mount. Send Cut Send FTW. Only a tiny bit of the Rad cap is above where the hood will live. I didn't want to kick it back anymore since I may put a higher CFM SPAL fan in since this one is around 900 and they make them in a 14" that go up to about 1800 cfm.

Fabbed up my Trans support. 2x3 x 0.25wt, slugged the holes and 1/4" mounting tabs sitting flush-ish to the lower 2x4 frame.
Not tacked yet but it fits.

Killed some time and stuck the roof liner on the inside of the roof. More red lol.

Still kicking around if I want to run Toyota shafts and a carrier bearing midship or a CB midship and 1350s.

I need to order the Atlas 2 5.0 next.

All my Haltech goodies came in this week. I bought it second hand off a twin coil setup out of AZ.
IC-7 display, Elite 750, SNP standalone Harness, GPS speed module. Going to go with Five-O motorsports 850cc injectors instead of the ones from SNP. They come flow tested and grouped along with all the info I need to plug into the Haltech 750.
Sold all the Autometer gauges I had to a buddy since they are not needed now with the IC-7.

I need to pull everything and do a few things to the engine (install dipstick for the rear sump pan) and Trans (install the TV cable that I had to repair) before the Atlas gets here.

I'll start working on the skid next while I'm waiting on parts. Got a sheet of AR500 last week to work with. should have plenty left over.

Im so ready to get back to work on the buggy.....

Still about a week out on my Atlas. I've been ordering parts for the fuel system, Turbo and exhaust.

Plan is to mock up the hot side and see How it fits in the area I have planned. Then on to the cold side, I may have to get a little creative..

Pulsar 3071 Turbo showed up yesterday

GLFab 2RZ/3RZ turbo manifold is en route.

I splurged on some Radium goodies for the Fuel System
Direct fit FPR to the Fuel rail and 100 micron Fuel filter.
