I was driving like any other day and my car stalls on the road and smoke starts pouring out of the dash and from the hood.
smoke engulfs the cabin as I climb over the console to get out of my car.
get out and reach over and pop the hood.
notice wires burning near firewall and hotspot on pass. side
Open glove box.
see huge fire melted through back of glove box and all the wires on fire
stuff beach towel in hole where glove box once was
wait for fire truck to come
6 or 7 firefighters surround my truck so that ONE can spray it with an extinguisher [/facepalm]
sit and wait for friend to tow me off the street and take me home

A new ECU/wiring harness (appears to be cooked) would cost just as much as the swap, If insurance were to pay out rather than total then this would be a very viable option.

Diesel motors are great & all, but the chevy 6.2 is arguably the worst one ever made. Still a very clean truck.
