Got the leaf springs ready to go today. Taking the bushings out of the 2nd Gen Tacoma leaf springs was a pain, but I figured out a trick.

I cut some notches in the metal bushing piece to allow some bending making it easier for the chisel to force it out

After the chisel had done all it could, I twisted it up and out with my 18" pipe wrench
Everyone has one of these laying around, right? It's saved my butt more than a few times

The other side is easily punched out

Then I used the vise to press in the new Poly Bushings that came with the Trail Gear shackle kit
Lithium grease helped them slide right in

Springs mocked up and ready to position the spring hanger

This would be a really cool install as a shackle flip for a 2nd gen taco. Especially if you got the creeper joints from Trail Gear.

So are you bringing this to HF this weekend?

Progress is looking good.

Cool I am very interested to see how this works out. You did it backwards of how most set up leafsprings but it appears like it should work unless the springs are just too soft or something.

Also note that these Leaf Springs were marked RF and LF unlike the ones that were on my '06 Tacoma. I put them on the oposite from how they were marked since the gas tank is on the Right side instead of the Left like a Tacoma.

good ideer. (Paul Sr talk)
