ARB Compressor Isolation Mount

Although I would rather mount these on a fenderwell (mount bolts vertical) this was much better than my friend's "hold it on with a zip tie while denting and scratching the brake lines to the anti-lock block" after the "4 wheel parts mounting" failed.

So.... I took one of these:

and made one of these:

Just like motor mounts - 3 are always best - This isn't really three bolts - two bolting into existing fender well 'nuts' with isolators (I usually use isolators that I make from discarded valve stems - the peice that they cut of with dikes that retains the valve onto a rim) and the 'third' (no bolt but in compression against the wheel well) is where the vacuum line is cut open and put on the edge of the galvanized material.

Looks good Murph.

Did you ever here back from Warn? I was reading in Overland Journal and they had a compressor comparison, the Oasis wasn't in the test, but the Warn was. They gave the Editors Choice to a ExtremeAir.

Thanks!

Well - My f@ck up. I was using that puppy for 10-15 minutes at a time.

Now that I realize that 50% means 5 minutes on/ 5 minutes off, I am fine.

Just wheeled this weekend and had zero problems. It must have a thermistor or som-some. I also had a weak battery that day. I have a Yellow Top that I haven't hooked up yet (for the Frig) - I also have a Warn type isolator for it but I have set any of that stuff up yet - I was thinking "Murphy get off your lazy ass! Here Sean has a new one and he's wrenching his stuff too!'

While I was thinking that I was going to have to get a new compressor I ordered these:

So... if I have problems in the future, at least I'll have an option that will still get me home before the street lights come on! ;) Plus my buddy can hook me up with CO2.

Yeah - that looks clean and more solid - I'm not a big fan of cantilevered mounts! But a hell of a lot better than one f'ng zip tie!!!

I made a little 'hat' section for mine to mount on the three bolts on the passenger wheel well.

Looks great Murph! I'm still undecided if I want to do OBA or CO2 at this point. Thinking CO2....

I'm looking forward to trying out the CO2. As you can surly see, I'm conflicted too! I like the idea of having 'endless air' but the idea of really being able to use air tools - who knows? I'll report on the CO2.

Here's my understanding:
A bottle of CO2 will give you 2-3 times the volume of a similar bottle of N2. CO2 is in liquid form an N2 is gaseous at high PSI.
N2 is better for your tires because it contains no water & has a larger molecularity than CO2. CO2 is more likely to leech leak than N2...

Thats why I carry the N2, I run it in my tires and can air back up after wheeling

I know a couple guys with CO2, and while its nice.. when it's out... you are done. A compressor can still keep going, even if its a slow one. The CO2 is fast, but it does have limits. Just get both. :D

Nice! I will! ;) I may just take the CO2 on some trips thinking that I could always use my 'high-volume' ARB if I run out. I guess I will have to weigh the CO2 when I leave to make sure I have some!!! :)

I almost bought a Powertank last fall. I had some giftcards for 4WP. Bought the snorkel instead. :) But those Powertanks are swanky. I wouldn't mind one for the 4Runner, just strap it in the back when I wheel.. use it for powertools if need be. Back at camp I have the Taco to air up with... or run tools. Once I get a cage I'll think more about it.. then I'll have a place to attach it to. :)
