Battery Finds

What do they run $?

The reverse terminal Group 34 that I need is $166. The same Odyssey is $268. Granted, it doesn't have the same specs as the Odyssey but I don't need a powerhouse. I think for the price, it will be perfect. When I get to the point that I have my fridge mounted full time, a winch, and as many lights as Sean, I'll look into the big boy batteries.

I'm told they're rebranded Dekas and I've heard nothing but good things about them. Just want to get my Odyssey swapped out for the correct one with reversed terminals so I can get rid of the welding experiment under my hood right now. I'll reuse the Odyssey later for dual batteries when the terminal layout doesn't matter.

Just ordered two new Odyssey batteries. Got about 2.5 years out of them. The last cold weather snap got to my main battery. Secondary battery is on the way out.

Man that sucks!! Its not like these are cheap batteries! I just put a group 31 odyssey in the trailer 6 months ago. In the Taco I have 2 X2 Power models.. fingers crossed they last as long as the Platinums did. Hell one of my original Platinums is in my shed powering the lighting via a solar panel. Thing is 9 years old.

Yeah I wish they were still selling the Platinums...and one guy was commenting on why run an AGM battery if they won't honor the warranty but good luck running a sound system, lights, accessories and winch on a standard lead acid battery.

Yeah that's it exactly. And after 4 Optimas dying in my life I'll never buy one of them... no matter what color the top is.

I was actually debating just pulling out all the secondary battery stuff and just running the biggest single battery I can fit. But I don't have the time right now to mess everything and I don't see myself finding the time in the near future, so just replacing both is the cheapest option for me right now as much as it sucks...

My secondary Plat still running strong 2012, I think the solar panel helps, because my main battery Duralast lasted a long time as well.

Do you isolate the second battery?

I just picked up a (IIRC) an Odessey PC1700 - $250 due to a race hookup. It's my second battery and it fits nicely in the rear driver side cubby. I have a Silverback recommended Battery.com or some-some big primary battery. I am contemplating removing the sub and putting both batteries on the passenger side when the sub is. I am thinking that may help with the Taco lean.

My secondary battery failed but the first time I took it to Sears (about 3 months ago) they said it was fine. Took it back a few weeks later they gave me a free AGM same size plus a gift card for $69. No warranty for the new battery but it's new. :)

How do you guys Isolate? I have a 200 amp relay that connects the second one to the alt when the engine is on. I was able to get about 5.5 years form the primary and 3.5 out of the second but I run that bitch down Damn near every day I travel with the fridge in it. The 1700 goes for 2 days but now I have a solar panel that should help quite a bit.

Yep, running the Blue Seas dual battery controller. It usually clicks off by the time I'm closing the driver door.

Does that truly isolate? I should read up on them. My thoughts were 5 years using it for fridge and winch was good and always thought the breakeven was about the same but open to being wrong.
