Bud Built Skids and Slider Issues

Alright so is this much slider bending normal? I do realize that it is seldom that you are ever torqueing this far out on the sliders but is this much normal?

also on the BB skids is this spacer needed?

I mean my exhaust is already flattened to be up with the cross member so i don’t really see a need in it. Because it is just there to clear the stock exhaust right? Figure i can get a good inch more of clearance if it was to be removed.

just need to get a beefer front skid now, looks like shit infront of the BB skid

Also had to do some modification to the BB cross brace to rid of some angle iron inference from my sliders

They are HREW, but if i lift from the first bar out from the frame it doesn’t bend as bad (this is the one that always has to be repainted after any wheeling trip). I just noticed this because i got a hi-lift and had a chance to play with it and was kind of just like whoa, that blows. i think they bend this much just because of how far out from the mounting point I’m lifting them from, debating if i want to beef up the angle brace that mounts to the frame to try and stiffen them up some, right now the triangular brace is kind of wimpy.

My sliders don't do that at all and mine are bolt on as well. It would be nice to see your video from under the truck.

Spacer needed unless you eliminate that cross-over in the exhaust.

So exactly how are your sliders attached? Just a plate on the face of the frame? cause that what it looks like in the video. Bolt ons to not move, need to wrap all the way around the underside and have vertical gussets on the outward frame side.

Mine are mounted far out from the frame as well. Mine may flex a 1/4' when the weight of the truck is resting on them. Mine are also welded on, might help a bit.

I'd probably make sure everything was installed per Bud instructions, and let them know about it.

At least those sliders didn't stay in the upward bent position. A friend of mine has his AP sliders stay in the upward position and rub the cab mounts and squeak like crazy. Nothing 2 or 3 guys bouncing on a slider couldn't fix though.

But even if those are HREW I wouldn't think they would flex like that. Just add some more support legs and call it good. :)

This is the best pic I got right now on the mounts.

These thing are solid to the frame, I highly doubt the mounting locations are moving at all, ie I dont think the issue is in bolt on vs weld on. Because the bending is coming from mount plate outward. I think I might cut the angle brace out and replace w a beefier one. Thus I think this is the issue. Unless it all that bending is coming from the steel structure

The sliders are not BB. Only the skids are.

How much restriction could be caused by just flatting out the exhaust the rest of the way to clear the xmember to elimate that extra brace? I just thinking instead of relocating the exhaust. Or am I missing something and there's something else in the way for getting that extra inch? Like the y pipe? But I'm thinking that is tucked up above frame rails.

Who makes those sliders? We need to know what to avoid.

Don't flatten your exhaust, just move it.

You and I must know the same peeps... I swear he must be shaving the bottoms of his doors everytime he opens his doors!!!

The sliders aren't flexing enough to contact the pinch weld. Not really worried about it in the short term. But over yrs of that much flexing I see some issues arising. Such as fatigue at where the steel is flexing.

Mine almost touch the bottom cab lip on passenger side, when I have anyone riding with me they touch and make a loud noise in the cab. I'm just going to use a drill bit to clearance the lip..lol
