BioLite CampStove Charges Your iPhone with Flames


Now all it takes to charge an iPhone is a few pieces of wood and the BioLite CampStove. This stove can boil a liter of water in under five minutes, and while the fire is burning electricity is generated to power the built-in USB port. Toss twigs, pine cones or any other biomass into the BioLite and flames will do the rest.

The stove works by converting heat from the fire into electricity, 2W continuously @5V with a peak of 4W @5V. This will charge any device at about the same clip as a notebook computer USB port. Using the BioLite makes it unnecessary to bring fuel canisters, phone chargers, solar panels and the like.

Although the CampStove weighs just over two pounds, since it doubles for cooking and charging it can save you from carrying some extra gear. According to BioLite, half the planet cooks on open flames. The company has developed larger stoves with the same technology to help people across the developing world access electricity by harnessing some of the energy given off while cooking.

The CampStove has an internal battery that can be charged via USB before heading out to camp, and ships with firelighter and a stuff sack. BioLite CampStove ships later this month for $129.

Ordered a folding cooler chair for Hunting/ Camping. It is freaking awesome. Most comfortable folding chair like this I've even owned. Also, it's super sturdy and has a bigger frame than I thought it would. Shouldn't have any trouble supporting my fat ass.

Nice!! If it just had arms and a cupholder. Love the cooler though. They had one at Dicks Sporting Goods, had a small 3 can cooler built into one arm, and a drinkholder in the other.

I thought about getting one with a few more features. But this one folds quick, is easy to carry, and is at the right height for sitting in a blind

I just picked up a chair like that for camping last week. I'm done messing around with any other type of chair. They all cut into my legs because they are made for 5' tall people. Directors chairs like that feel great to sit in for a couple hours of campfire stories and the table on the side is great. Mine even has a cup holder with drains, but no cooler or tarp like that one. Best $35 I ever spent.

Those ARB chairs look nice. Some guy on central overland is selling 2 for $70. Seems like a good deal.
