Cool after I posted it, some Nordstrom shoppers were complaining about it. :) I am glad that for us common men, it passes the test! lol :)

Got a new SAK yesterday. Wanted something with a lot of functionality but not so big it wouldn't fit in a pocket. Ended up with a Victornox Evolution 28. Had pretty much everything I wanted and nothing more. Only thing that I don't like is the little "wrench". I'd rather it had a small knife blade in its place. Might have to look at the SAK modding forums. :)

x2. I always have a Leatherman within arms reach for the most part. Not in a pants pocket but in a glovebox, coat pocket, desk drawer, lunch box... etc.

Been wanting a bigger Yeti but didn't want to drop that much cash. Turns out a vendor at work is a Brute Box dealer. So I ordered a 75qt for wholesale.

It's just personal preference. I don't like the carry handles on the Pelican. And unlike everybody else in the world apparently, I don't like their latches either. I've also never seen a cooler seal up like they do and they feel sturdier as well. And the big thing for me is the fact that the Pelicans are almost 20lbs heavier empty. Like I said, it's all just personal preference from handling them. I don't have experience with either of them as far as performance.

They are heavy, I'll give you that. As for sealing up. I left ice in my 20 qt a few weeks ago and forgot it. Moved it this past weekend and noticed it. Just dumped it over before opening the lid and it didn't leak. I was hoping to just let it seep out onto the yard. So it seals very very well. On the 45 qt it actually has a little pressure relief valve that opens when you pop the left latch and you hear it whistle as it vents. On the 20 qt they do not and (although I have yet to see this.. probably will this summer) on hot days it will form a vacuum that requires two hands to open. But I'm sure the Brute is a really nice unit, besides you skinny guys need light stuff to carry. lol JK man, with my leg I need light stuff as well. :) I was just wondering why you thought it was so far superior.

I'm not saying it's a superior product, I just like them more. I'm sure they both perform great. I've actually seen a Brute create a vacuum like you were saying. Ended up having to take the drain plug out to get the kid to open. The weight is a big thing for me because I move it around quite a bit. If it was just going to stay in the bed of my truck or in a boat or something it wouldn't be a huge deal. Plus, the whole getting it at dealer cost was a big plus in the decision making. Still not sure if I'm going to keep the Yeti or not. Was going to sell it to recoup some of the cost but I may just end up keeping it.

My buddy has a Yeti 65, my Pelican 45 is about the same size (taller/wider but not quite as long) but def heavier. The Yeti is prettier.. I'll say that. The walls of the Pelican are WAY thicker. He got his for free using some CC points so he didn't care about price really. But weight is an issue. If I was to buy a Pelican 75 I'd mount it somewhere and not move it. :) Nice thing is that the drain plug actually accepts a garden hose so you could in theory mount it with a drain hose and never have to move it. Of course that really isn't an option... I don't own a yacht.

I can say this much... My next cooler will be about 3x the price of this Brute, be blue and silver, and have an electric cord coming out of the back of it :)
