Been on the "I don't need my cooler to make ice" bandwagon. . But I'm starting to see with bbq competition, my trusty igloos ect are falling apart:thumbdown:

will have to make that investment soon

They are heavy, I'll give you that. As for sealing up. I left ice in my 20 qt a few weeks ago and forgot it. Moved it this past weekend and noticed it. Just dumped it over before opening the lid and it didn't leak. I was hoping to just let it seep out onto the yard. So it seals very very well. On the 45 qt it actually has a little pressure relief valve that opens when you pop the left latch and you hear it whistle as it vents. On the 20 qt they do not and (although I have yet to see this.. probably will this summer) on hot days it will form a vacuum that requires two hands to open. But I'm sure the Brute is a really nice unit, besides you skinny guys need light stuff to carry. lol JK man, with my leg I need light stuff as well. :) I was just wondering why you thought it was so far superior.

My 20qt seal is a bitch to get open in the summer. That sucker seals itself shut. My 65qt does not however.

It's just personal preference. I don't like the carry handles on the Pelican. And unlike everybody else in the world apparently, I don't like their latches either. I've also never seen a cooler seal up like they do and they feel sturdier as well. And the big thing for me is the fact that the Pelicans are almost 20lbs heavier empty. Like I said, it's all just personal preference from handling them. I don't have experience with either of them as far as performance.

What the shit? lol The latches are the best part. I dropped my 20qt with tall boys and ice in it and it stayed shut. Fuckin love those latches. But its not just the cooler, its the lifetime warranty that comes with the coolers are well. Every part is covered except for the $10 seal.

I thought getting a tiny little drill bit and trying to replicate the same valve they have on the larger sizes. Should be easy, the latch itself seals the hole.

This, they are awesome. Plus I don't have to worry about the Texas sun dry-rotting them things.

Well see, Bison wins. Lifetime warranty (on replacement parts) includes the seal as well :p But in all actuality, Yeti, Bison, Pelican, etc are all basically the same cooler with different aesthetics and different latches. If you like the Pelican latches better, good for you. I don't.

Umm.. Yeti IMO is way overpriced for a smaller cooler. Its pretty if metrosexual is your thing. That being said I do LOVE my 30 oz stainless steel Yeti tumbler. That fucker will keep a glass of ice with ice for 24 hours or more at the house. :)

Well worth the $30-35 IMO ($35 in stores.. $40 MSRP). http://yeticoolers.com/rambler-tumblers/

I can say this much... My next cooler will be about 3x the price of this Brute, be blue and silver, and have an electric cord coming out of the back of it :)

Just saw this. Fuck the brute cooler and go this route!

No need right now. I can always just borrow my buddy's. He's had it 2 years and has never used it. I took it to Jambo last year and that's the only time it's been used. It'll be going with me again this year as well.

In other news, my new sleeping pad (ALPS Mountaineering Comfort Series) is amazing. I sleep better on it than I do in my bed lol

I keep trying to buy it from him but he won't sell it. Hell he got it for free (present from his dad) and he won't take $500 for it.

I don't blame him. I wouldn't even loan mine out. :)

Very true. When I worked from home I kept all types of drinks in it next to my desk in my office. Now it sits in the garage for just beer.

In the market for a new 1-2 person tent. Mine died a tragic death this morning and my hammock was destroyed last night. Suggestions?
