Camping 1 night in New Mexico on the 31st. Super light trip since I have to be able to get all of my stuff into a personal item for the plane ride home.
Pitching my hammock and new Kelty bag. Figure I will have an additional fleece blanket as well.

if temps drop below 70* I find I need something more than nothing in my hammock. I typically bring a fleece with a sewn together foot box because I don't like my feet getting cold. Sorta like a snuggie, but gayer lol

I'm going to bring a fleece blanket to put down in the hammock. Temps will probably be in the low 50s.

Thats pretty cool temps. You may want to being a sleeping bag just in case. I run warm, but I'd definitely bring my 50* top quilt with me in those temps. My ass got cold a few weeks ago and it was upper 50's or upper 40's - I can't remember. Once that wind picks up my hammock breathes so well it's like someone turned on the ac

Sleeping bag for sure! I have a new Kelty bag I need to try out. I think it's a 40 degree bag so it will be right at the limit with the expected temps.

+ that hammocks going to squish the insulation down.

if you get into hammock camping check out underquilts that hang. You can make one out of a sleeping bag as well. Arrow Gear, Hammock Gear, Warbonnet, Dutchgear are all reputable brands. They all sell pretty cool stuff and most of it's USA made.

Not the first time I have camper in bear country. I wont be cooking or have any food with me so not too worried about it. A quick sleep and back on the road.

I reserved a campsite in New Mexico a little over a week. $10 plus $4 from reserve america.
Well a friend is going to go with me so the plan now is to drive straight and trade off.
I go to cancel my reservation. $10.60 is non refundable and there is a $5 cancellation fee. WTF???? It will cost me more to cancel?? FU Reserve America

Complain to NM HQ. I hated Reserve America. Total sham IMHO. We started using it for NJ State Forest a few years ago. Keep complaining like we did and maybe you'll get lucky and they will change. This year we went back to a state run system like we had before. Sadly once NJ found out residents would pay some of the "extra" BS Reserve America fees - they transferred over to the state site.
