As far as Rotomolded coolers go... I still love my Pelicans. Don't use them often (things are heavy) but they are built like a tank.

I almost got a few of them at a great deal, but people were complaining about the drain valves leaking. Pelican said they would address it so I was waiting for them to do so. In the meantime I ran across Kong.

They have options no one else does, and for a guy like me who tries to pack light the options like the shelves on the sides are pretty cool:

also some of these high end coolers do not seal should you roll them on their side. That's a huge problem for me. Not spending that much money on a cooler that leaks when you go offroad or tip it over a little.

^Nice cooler.

I may be able to get yeti knock off that H-E-B sales(local grocery stores here in Texas), KODI cooler for like 40% off from a neighbor friend of a friend(lol sounds like a drug deal) , who works at H-E-B, I think they may be made in China, but you can’t beat the price, I plan on checking them out before I commit to the generous offer.

Seems legit. I don't like the rubber fasteners (they suck in cold weather) but thats the most popular way to close them these days. My buddy's RTIC is a beast to open in cold weather. You almost need a pry bar.

That said not too many of us need coolers to keep stuff from freezing so we are a super small minority. Heck after this winter - I might not need to anymore either lol

I'm a fan of the Pelican coolers. Love the latches and the built in bottle openers.

This is my buddies 45QT cooler. It got lodged between a gooseneck trailer hitch and the side of the F350's truck bed. The F350 lost! He still has that cooler and it still seals perfectly to this day.

Oh and the comment about Pelicans drains leaking. Mine is fine. But to be honest I have rarely opened it. It holds ice long enough that I don't need to crack it open during a trip and just open it when I get home or just dump it out through the lid. I do like that its on both sides (45 qt) so no matter which way its in the bed I can get to it should I need to. I've thought about getting a short (2-3') section of garden hose and screwing it on with a cap at the end. This way its even easier to get to and drain water... but as stated, its not been an issue.

I broke down and bought a Yeti 45. I must say, its a little smaller than I had imagined. Seems to be well made though. :D

it's nothing that can't be fixed w/some silicone (did not know that then), but I was researching them before I pulled the trigger and it stopped me in my tracks because I was about to order a small, med, and large because the "deal" was so good. Had me skeptical that they were really on sale that much because everyone was saying they all leaked (it was all over the forums). Didn't avoid river crossings in the Subaru for years just to flood her out from the inside lol

Turns out half of the "leaks" were just condensation (still a slight issue because half were legit leaks)

We got free flashlights for it at the NRA Shotshow a couple of years back lol

I have the first gen cooler and I never had that issue. The only leak I had from it was when I didn't tighten the cap down hard enough.

Nice score!

Back when those Coleman latches worked! I bought one of those stainless "old school" style Coleman coolers maybe 10 years ago and what a POS! Fucking lid always bounced open. One of our wheeling trips many moons ago on TRO I left a trail of beer cans after the lid popped open attempting to climb an obstacle .

Speaking of coolers. Got this today. I have no plans to use the jug. Dont think I could ever get it clean enough. But I'll use the cooler if it's worth a shit. Date stamp shows February 1979.

That's a good year.
