Is there anywhere you can take the actual licensing test online?

Check AARL.ORG. You will find a database to search for physical locations and times. Look other places for the pool of question with answers.

You can't take the test online. You can take practice tests, but not the real dealio. There are only 36 questions on the actual test.

And they publish the pool of questions that they draw from. When I did it, I read 1200 questions (iirc) the night or two before.

I picked up a book for ~$15 that had all the questions and answers as well... it also explained why that answer was correct.. so I even learned a few things.

Looks like it went up in price a few bucks, but its a good book.

Taking it in Jan. Was planning to take Dec 9th but got sick so I postponed. But I'm ready. They only do the testing once a month around here.

For those of you who just bought that BaoFeng handheld I would suggest you download this and then save it to your smartphone or tablet. This way when you are out in the middle of nowhere and decide to use it.. you can actually figure out how to. I do this out of experience.
