How far do you think you could move it? Doesn't the bump stop strike plate hang down a few inches? might mean a few more inches you could move it forward without issues.

Here is a pic Drew, you have maybe 1-2" after the bump stop before the frame starts dropping down.

Oh and you can see the e-brake cable across the springs in that pic too.

It would be on the angled part of the frame if you did that, I think the best thing would be to back half it. Then you can do what ever you want.

is that the Hilux? Nice Blocks!
There is nothing nice about them...lol
look what they are doing to the e-brake cable, the jackass that put them in never bothered to relocate the cable and its in a bind now.

Hell yeah! Flatbed FTW.

I entered Toyota flatbed into Bing and that was the first to pop up and is just what I'm wanting to do.

I really don't like the idea of cutting the frame in half.

I dont think there would be a problem with it being on the angled part, Just cut one leg shorter so it stays flat. As long as the spring doesn't slap the frame, you'd be good. Isn't there supposed to be some rubber in there somewhere?

If he did it right and only welded the spider gears together and not to the carrier, then you should be able to pull it out and drop in an auto locker.

If not, I might have a third for you in the next month or so depending on what rig I get and how soon I'm able to swap for a Tacoma T-100 rear.

if thats what he did (and by that I mean my other buddy because this guy cant weld) then its not the first Yota that they have done it to, and they actually do a good job of it. I am just not a fan of it myself and would like to have a Sparten instead. I would like to drop some 4.88's in this piece anyway so I guess it doesnt really matter....lol

There were some vehicles with that axle that came stock with 4.88s. It will be cheaper to find a used one than to re-gear yours.

4.88s = not low enough. Get 5.29s if you can find them, you loose some gear strength due to the pinion teeth having to be smaller to accomidate more teeth but the extra gearing is a huge help pushing large tires down the highway. You've got to keep in mind that with the 22R you are only working with a realistic 70-80 Hp at the wheels after parasitic drive train loss. Gear it as low as you can, plus those factory 4.88s are very rare and will likely cost you more that an aftermarket gear set.

When it comes time to do the gears we can hash this out....lol

Right now I just need to get it trail ready, I put it on the lift after a major pressurewashing and chanced the gear oil front/rear, regreased everything and hit most of the underside with black paint.
I only found one spot that was rusted threw and it's small, will be getting fixed when i weld on the chevy spring hangers, I'm also ditching the rusted cross member that the spare hung from and replacing it with some 6" flat stock.
