Option 2 is the better of the 2 ideas, you want to avoid welding on the carrier as it is cast and will likely crack if welded on.

I'd just spend $250 on a Spartan and call it a day. If you f* up a carrier its about 100 to replace.

i keep forgetting your runner is a 2nd gen...
that will make lifting it a lot easier than coils. especially lift with flex!

huh, didnt think stability would be better with a leaf but that is because i have never had a coil rear in a truck/suv... just a 86 and a 89 runner.
