If you put a second nut on there you can lock it in place.
Rear main seal would leak on the ground right?
Not necessarily, at that point it's going in the trans but with that much leaking it's gotta be leaking out somewhere either being consumed by a head gasket or leaking on top of something so that it is not hitting the ground
With the blue smoke I'd put money on the head gasket.
Checked the oil today and it wasn't even registering on the dipstick. Put in about 2qts before it was full. No oil on the ground means I probably need to replace the head gasket, huh?
You could always dump some bars leak in it and see if the leak stops/smoke goes away
With the blue smoke I'd put money on the head gasket.
This is bad advise IMO. That shit will clog everything and in the end do more damage than good.
If the head gasket was blown then the oil would likely be mixing with the coolant. Any signs of this? The oil is either leaking into the cylinders and being burned or mixing with the coolant. It is also likely with a blown head gasket that the oil / water mixture is getting into the cylinder causing it to smoke. If you just pull the plugs it will tell you alot. If you find one that is cleaner than the rest it would indicate a blown HG on that cylinder, reason the plug is clean is because of the high temp and pressure stem from the burning coolant. If they are oily and nasty then valve seales would be more the likely problem.
I don't see the problem if he's not keeping the motor
This....I believe it's still my motor..just because he doesn't need it anymore doesn't mean that it is trash and should be unnecessarily mistreated. It is still worth something to somebody.
