I could have gotten an extra inch or 2 by cutting off the upper shock mount and welding on a new one, but I never would have gotten a shock that long in there. The BL did make some extra room though.

This engine hoist is great for painting all these parts, lol

I guess he's talking about the one holding the sliders to the chain?

Also got the hook up from Brian since I was about 1/2 qt short of having enough Redline (Heavy Shockproof) to fill the rear axle. Thanks again dude

No prob man, sorry if I made it difficult...I was pretty drunk when you called

So I guess you didn't take it out to HF? Hopefully you'll have time soon to use those welding skills on my diff drop

I got plenty of time, just let me know when you're ready.

Also, I'm pretty proud of how my welding skills have come along. I just finished welding together all the short legs for my sliders. The first one is a little ugly, but will hold just fine. The others have some pretty good looking welds on them.

Lets do this! I will be up early tomorrow for the Manchester United match @ 6:45 am, so I'm free after that

I guess we didn't get the drive angle quite right. Just drove through the neighborhood and it vibrates super bad doing 5mph or faster. Time for some shims

How did you set the angle? The ideal way is to place your spring perches on the axle unwelded and bolt everything up and move your pinion so it's pointed at your transfercase or carrier bearing whichever you have or if you have a standard u-joint at both ends then it needs to be parallel with that angle. Important part is it needs to be set with the weight of the vehicle on the springs as pinion angle changes throughout the course of the spring travel in a leafsprung setup.

Finally installed the Ironman torsion bars. They are freaking thick. Also cut notches in the shock buckets and welded on some tabs instead.

A good pic of full drop on both sides. I can't get over how much travel there is
LongTravel7.jpg

Notch cut on passenger side. We had to try several times since the first couple times, the shock hit the UCA at full drop. 3rd try was a charm

Heres the awesome shock tab jig we used to make sure I tacked them straight
ShockTabs2.jpg

Decided to gusset the front tab on both sides using some 1/4" triangles I cut off of the Slider mounting plates

All Painted up

The shocks have the wrong bushing in the bottom, so I'll have to fix that before I can put them in.
