You might be able to get away with building your own skids from some thinner steel. Just something lightweight to keep stumps and sticks from going places they shouldn't, not for bouncing off rocks.

Gonna try for aluminum.

You would be surprised at how strong aluminum can be. A few strategically placed bends help alot.

Only real drivability issue is the font suspension. I've decided not to insure it since it's gonna be sitting in the garage for the next couple months.

There's nothing major to do yet, but I'd like to remove the running boards, paint the frame/ bumpers/ mirrors/ other chrome trim.

I really need to clean out the garage first though.

Motor is priority #1 right now, so you've got some time. Probably about 2-3 months.

Once the motor is done, I'll start using it as my DD and sell the Taco.

Now you need to order 4 more monitors for the visors and headrests (have to have them on the rear headrests so people behind you can watch).. maybe a one in the rear view mirror, another in the center of steering wheel... maybe some to drop down in the rear hatch for tailgating. LOL

Or just get one and install it in the rear so when you are camping and the weather turns to shit you can lay in the back and watch some movies.
