Those last two episodes of the Grand Tour have been my favorite so far.
That was part of it
These past two episodes are the like the Top Gear Bolivia special where they off-road the whole time (which is my favorite Top Gear episode). You can still find those Dick Proenneke on youtube. Not a TV series but I just picked up Alone in the Wilderness I and II, Alaska Silence & Solitude, and The Frozen North on DVD from PBS. Currently reading One man's wilderness An Alaskan Odyssey (50th Anniversary Edition) and figured I'd grab the DVD's.
I remembered seeing Dick Proenneke build his own cabin by hand on PBS when I was a kid. Pretty sure his shows got me into nature....well that and growing up in the woods with no neighbors on a dirt road.

Yeah might be better to watch it on a tube TV or some pre-2005 TV! Well watching the youtube videos had me enamored. I watched all of them I could find back-to-back.So apparently some things should stay memories. I guess it had been so long I had put the experience on a pedestal reality could not match. The Dick Proenneke videos were kind of a let down. Something about watching hrs of blurry 16mm wind up camera movies isn't as exciting as it was when I was a kid watching on my tube tv. So if anyone wants to relive their past and get those DVD's - I'd advise you buy them used for cheap and don't expect much. I may even know a guy who has some to sell![]()
Watching Knight fight on History channel, it’s mildly entertaining. I still prefer Rich’s old show though
