You don't use steel leaders on your bait?

I never use steel unless I'm gonna target something with some teeth. I use 30lb mono on a small swivel with a 0/3 hook I like a smaller coated hook red/black as long as its not shiny silver. Now if I'm jigging for snapper I'll jump up to 120 mono with a 6/0 hook

Yeah, I don't have a good reel to put it on yet.. just that old surfrod. I didn't hook anything with it, guess I needed deeper water. I had cut mullet on the hook. It had a great feel to it, but I kind of miss the levelwind already.

most of all the penn rods are pretty good. I have a old power stick from when I was like 12 and its still a hell of a rod for under 100$

Think I'm going to sell my yak. Its a heritage featherlite angler 9.5. the bottom has a few marks on it.... I painted it with bedliner paint and it just comes off with a finger nail... looking for 250$ with the paddle.

Perfect day for Kayak Fishing on the Guadalupe. One of the best things about having Monday off is that all the parks are empty.

Got to the state park at 8a and fished till about noon. Slayed some serious small mouth

The Guadalupe river is pretty chilly. There's also a hybrid between large and small mouth called Guadelupe bass and I caught a bunch of those too

My next door neighbor has a tree like that. I used that moss to start all my fires as a kid. All you need is a spark and that moss would catch on fire really quick.
