Looks like I need a front recovery point, recovery gear, and bigger tires.

Yes recovery points are a must. At least have tires that won't make you a trail tampon. How big are the tires you have?

Did you miss the part where he is getting a trailer? I'm sure it has a water tank on it.

It doesn't come with a water tank but I plan to install one. Need to figure out where to mount it and how big I can go. Would like to have at least 12-15 gallons.

So that's at least 3 showers that are going to be there? I won't worry about getting one then. I have plenty of other stuff I need to get for my rig before I worry about a shower.

So @balakay what lift are you doing?

That should work.

That should work.

I'd love to do it once and be done but I still need to buy tires, sliders, and hopefully a skid. That's a lot of moolah to drop in the next 5 months for a poor white boy like me. Spacers aren't my first choice by any means but I'm getting them already installed on the stock coilovers for $40 and the rear lift only costs about 40 cents so it's hard not to go that route for a few months. I may end up need longer shocks in the rear. If I do, I'll go ahead and buy the Toytec or Radflo rear shocks before the trip since that's the cheap part of the lift. But I'm gonna wait and see how it is with stock shocks first. Coilovers and rear coils conversion will definitely be after the trip though.

Sliders are a must.. cheaper than the alternative.

My advice to building a rig is to armor it first, lock it second and lift and tires third. Because if you reverse the order you run the risk of a body damage or driveline damage. Once its armored up and locked you can go lots of places on stock tires that you thought impossible and do it with limited damage if any.

I'd say the same. But I'm just basing it off of this trip last year. Clearance was more important than armor really. There's not much that poses a threat for damage if you're higher than stock.

Good to know! How big are the tires you plan to end up with? 285's?

255/75/17. Probably the biggest I'll ever go on this rig. They're a true 32x10 basically. Good offering of ATs and MTs in that size with a C load rating.
