And you should be packing a spare BIRF, and lets see you change it in under an hour.

I have two spare birfs and two spare CV's for the Taco. I can change a CV in about 30 minutes. A birf is a bitch! You can do it but its SUPER messy!

Thanks for all of the great ideas guys, I am going to update the first post & add some of these ideas to the list. I will start rounding up everything, but please keep posting up your ideas.

You've got to look at your rig and assess the weakest points in it(what will break first) and carry those things. A good collection of parts to carry would be spare axles, hubs, 3rd members, various fuses/relays, etc, etc.

Yep, what can you replace on the trail or what do you need to get back to camp. The alternator for example might be something a person carries and leaves at camp.

Dude I would burn my rig down If I had to change 2 birfs on a single trip.

CVs aren't side specific

Something to be noted here for non tacos/toyotas that might happen to be looking at this. Some IFS fronts do have different CVs, most notably the GM 9.25 and GM 8.25 should you happen to find yourself building one of these rigs make sure you have both driver and passenger side CVs.

Yeah, I would just drag it back to the trailer and call it a weekend.

Glad I don't have to worry about that, just poor flex which is not cure-able.

Well I put in those Chromo's which "should" help and in the long run I'll do Longfields. I am just hoping that with a 22re and under 36's I'm safe for a while. <fingers crossed>

Hey don't feel bad I'm trying to do a 44 with 36s, I've now got superious 4340 shafts and CTM u-joints. The new concensious about my choice of axles is that I will start destroying ring gears.

True, those CTM's will be the last to go. You are just going to need to learn "throttle control".. LOL :)

What is this throttle control you speak of?

For some reason I knew that you had no idea what it was.. Jason has issues with it as well. LOL

You mean I don't just put pedal on the right thing all the way to floor?

Yea he's pretty bad about getting just hammering the throttle when in doubt of what to do. I'm really supprised he hasn't broken a CV shaft or the rear diff yet.
