In all seriousness, with my work with the 'homeless,' and my very extended relationships with many varied folks - I know a number of 'off grid people' - most people call them homeless these days. - seriously, I know some very ingenious 'Campers' that haven't had a real job for sometime and they know every gubmit handout available.

Tax taking, homeless, unibombers....yep.... thats something everyone that wants to be self reliant and off the grid wants to be associated with. They usually round out the guest speaker line up at the local events with Ted's ex wife, Wesley Snipes gives us a 2hrs speech about how to get around the IRS followed by the end talk on how to make your own C4 in your microwave hosted by a Bin Laden child.





No idea when self reliance became a bad thing with so many negative connotations...... you guys need thicker tinfoil hats......

Land Ive had my eye on since 2018 is under contract. Hope a land grab is not going on, but I'm pretty sure one is coming w/the market falling. If people are scooping up land like this thats got horrible access and was on the market for 2 years I hope Ill still be able to find a spot thats reasonable. Only good thing about our current situation is I'm spending way less on BS I do not need. If they end up scooping it up for 50k or less Ill be pretty mad at myself for getting my ass in gear quicker...listed at 69k and thats above any budget Ill have anytime soon. 50k is pushing it.

50k down here only gets you a couple to 5 acres.

Last wknd we drove around and looked at a few properties, it’s the beginning of a buyers market right now, I’m hoping more land in the areas were looking will become available.

Nice! We are starting to look at land as well for weekend retreat/family land/hunting. Both my wife and I are tired of being in the city during the weekend. Nothing to do here that we haven't done a 100x already. We are looking for 10+ acres with water on it and a little house/shack. If it doesn't have a house on it, then I'll buy a used 5th wheel 40' trailer and park it there for good.

Yea, believe it or not you guys have less land available. Everyone's moving to TX. Meanwhile most of the NE city slickers avoid upstate NY

I have not done any deals with them. Just know there are many with smoking' rates right now. Believe it or not, I've heard good reviews about Rocket Mortgage from a couple of escrow companies.

How about just getting an umbrella property for a few hundred buckss a year and you get protection for much more than a pc of land.

I'm looking to create a Grantor Trust via LLC for anonymity. After researching that guys site I linked apparently intent is very important when setting this stuff up and this thread is public so......we will leave it at that

Who knows but Ill guarantee no one every gets anything if I set it up this way and on the flip side the trust can be transferred w/o a ton of BS or taxes when I eventually pass. LLC Through DE or NV isn't all the expensive. PO box + lawyer is the biggest cost. Couple grand now to secure my future isn't all that bad.

never understood how people live life avoiding their eventual death. at least my mom has her stuff strait so my sister and I won't have many issues. she took care of that all before she had hip replacment surgery a few months ago.

Ive got all my stuff strait and my beneficiaries have all the info they need. All my accounts are POD, but the benis will be taxed a crap ton and thats not cool. I already paid taxes on that multiple times - why should my beni need to pay again during mourning. Like a double slap in the face to me in my grave and the beneficiary who's already going through tough times
