Be very cool with those lowers! I don't want to scare you but I do want influence you to watch that cracking. Maybe even get some tube with the ID that's the same as the OD of those LCA bosses and weld 'dem bitches up!!!

Mine before doing the TC LCAs:

Stop scaring me! These suckers better last after all this. I'm going to talk the service manager at my dealer and see if I can have some of his "trashed" LCA's for free or cheap. I have a feeling they just trash them when they need bushings or BJ's.

Well that's one way to get the bushings out lol

I have no welder, no skills welding, and my wallet is empty otherwise I would definitely take your advise as well as get the cracked weld in my tire gate fixed and get my TC spindle gussets welded on. Now is the perfect time to get it all done.

When I have time I have no money and when I have money I have no time......on a good note I planted a money tree and it's looking good.

Oh and did you beef up your LCA mounts when you went LT? I can bend them by hand. I am NOT impressed with them at all.

Edit: I just took a closer look and relised from the CV you got the stock replacements

Believe me, I understand!!!

I didn't do LT. I am standard travel. The LCA mounts are the same. I don't worry about the bending part, I worry about them ripping out and I'm not too scared (right now). :D I do, however have new TC cam tabs I want to burn in. :D

As I mentioned before, don't be scared but if you do have scratches, one of the best things you can do is to watch it (or polish them out!), I truly doubt it will fail all at once. Also note that when you clean those puppies, realize that scratches can propagate into cracks - cracks into failures. Just keep an eye on it - at the very least, when you change your oil. :D

Ill be removing all the rust tonight. I will be sure to keep an eye on the welds and look for stress cracks. I made sure when I cut the bushings out I cut them on the seam so that I wouldn't cut into a structural part of the tube.

If only he knew someone with a welder.

:shifty:

I forgot you had a welder. Hmmmmm.

On a good note I dropped the bearings off to one of the only Napa stores by me that still has a machine shop. I was impressed with the guys knowledge and their set up. They have just about everything I could ever want. Oh and he didn't rape me either. $28 per bearing to get them pressed off/on and install the seal. For shits and giggles I called Toyota yesterday and they wanted $200 per bearing.....what a JOKE!

Will pay to see Cmack get tased
I can certainly weld the LCAs for you, but I don't think my 110volt MIG will do a real great job on the Spindle gussets. I don't know if it will throw enough heat to penetrate the spindle casting.

Cool! Ill start looking for some tube tonight after I clean them up.........unless someone on here knows the OD of the LCA tube? I'm not to concerned with the spindle gussets. I bought Fred's old set so I can get them welded up anytime. The issue is I need new rims with proper offset to accommodate them or throw on the spacers I have and do the cab mount chop.

Remember that the top part is not where the failure occurs - you could probably just do 1/4-1/3 around and notch for where the boss attaches to the LCA.

Well some douchebag fucktard POS just smashed the passenger side window out of my moms truck and stole my gps out of my glove box. The crackhead didn't touch the 2k+ in tools I have in the rear thank god. Philly PD took a report over the phone (useless). They didn't even want the model/make or serial number for the GPS...not that I would think they would find it if I did give it to them. So safelite is gonna bend me over in an hour or so. It's funny that a front windshield is less then a passenger window. I guess it's the labor to remove the interior panels.

Wow that sucks!!! Yeah, a GPS won't stuff their numbers enough to gain that federal money.

You can get glass at a junk yard and install it yourself, I would also check with your auto and home insurance and see if either will cover the loss

lol.....they only care about murders here. You could run a red light while sniffing coke off a hookers ass and they wouldn't pull you over.

Yea, I sold glass for a living and know the ins and outs. The car only has collision insurance (13yo Exploder) and homeowners isn't going to cover it becuase I am in a different state and already reported it (I won't do any shady shit to get the money back anyway). The only issue is I can't hit up a junk yard tonight so then thats another day parked in the ghetto with no window. Chances are I would be missing allot more if I park it with tape as a window. I just decided to take the hit and go after the landlord's insurance. I was parked in our loading zone so I'm hoping they will cover it.

School projects are a joke up here. We were marking up jobs 30-40% but for schools we would go 50-60%. My bosses always bitched about government unless they were making money off of it.

So on a good note my bearings are done, but it's to late to pick them up tonight so Ill get them tomorrow. Now I just need to think if I want to reinforce the LCA or wait till next spring to do it. I really want to drive my truck and I can't have anything else happen to my moms truck so most likely Ill just throw everything back on, get it aligned Monday morning and return here truck ASAP.

I wouldn't get too uptight about it. Just check it - when you change the oil and before and after you wheel! :D

ah...it's been a long frustrating day. Yup for the Exploder: Front windshield $200 - side window - $298 - rear inoperable (small window) $350. I'm guessing it's a supply and demand type thing. You can crack a laminated windshield and still drive, but if you tap a tempered side lite it explodes and your SOL.

I just got home and Ill be looking into the welds shortly. Where's that ARB weld X-ray machine when you need it lol
