I can't find the site now, but there was one site I saw a few years ago while doing some research for a new tent. Anyhow this site was all about lightweight camping and a lot of it was winter camping. Some of the members would pack up a very lightweight pack and go out snow campinging with one of those stoves built out of titanium. Guys would be out with a tarp stretched between trees with pine branches for a bed and a little stove. Pretty cool stuff. Wish I could find the site now.

As much as I like open fires, I don't much like the smoke and many places require you to bring your own pan as not to scar the earth. I have a washing machine deal that I may just put a flue on!

I've been out of the military for 13 years, but when I was in you needed cover if you where outside as well. Always had a hat on. Did they do away with that? I see Army folks around town without cover all the time. Is it now acceptable?

No, that shit is definitely not acceptable. always drives me crazy when I see A "Soldier" on a movie or TV show and their shits all jacked up! Get a damn Military liaison on staff and get that shit straight.
