Roof Top Tents

I have been looking for a tent for a while and originally thought about a truck bed tent, but after seeing these roof tents it has me thinking. Do they make one that would fit on the roof of my Double Cab? I dont have roof rack so I would need to get some for the tent. This way i still have the whole bed for other crap, and will have a tent on the truck and not have to pack one, I work shift work and tend to do stuff at random.

I would have a baja like rack above your bed and mount it there. Those tents are sweet!!!

Do you ever have to park in a garage or parking garage? If so, you'll have problems

i park in a garage, with a 3 inch lift and a top tent it wont fit in my garage anymore?

I'm all over my stock antenna, especially in public garages. I'm guessing that you won't fit with a rack + tent. It'll be tight with the rack alone...

Well you are not going to leave the tent on the roof all the time are you? I'm not sure how they mount but I would imagine that it is something that you put on the roof when you plan on needing it & take off otherwise. Meaning that you could still park in the garage most of the time.

that was the other option i was thinking of, my solid bed cover is supposed to hold 300 or so pounds, so if i can find a tent that is about 5.1 feet by 6.2 feet, i should be able to make a way to secure it to the bed and use it that way or on the ground in the summer if i want to.

That's a good idea, you could rig some type of strap system like the tents that go in the bed use.
