Frack me..
I can do this Saturday night or Sunday this weekend at the soonest (Assuming the parts are available). If Drew and Andy are interested in being around for this.. is Rob's more central for you guys? While we are on the subject.. why aren't we discussing a New years party? does everyone already have plans? Fireworks are legal in my driveway if anyone is interested, might have a small drunk new years at my place (you are welcome to crash here).

Now that is a dandy little tool...I have gotten by without it several times, but it surely can't hurt, would likely make life easy. So ....heads or tails?

Theres an APP for that....lol

Well I am for sure down for helping. Saturday is Christmas day so I doubt I can do anything then, but the following weekend (New Years) is good for me.

Well, I got the bug.. so I am probably going to tear it down during the week after work. I can take the crank bolt off with an impact but I am not sure how to torque it back on without your special tool.. :) I will be working on this, this weekend.. just want to get it done. I am going to take the pulleys off and see if that is my noise. If not, then i will tear it back down and do the pump. When I saw the pump this last time, it didn't look that old.. so, I guess if I don't have to do it.. I won't. I don't think it is that big a deal to tear it all down and then have to do it again next year.. if necessary.

Hell, who knows.. I might just do it all anyways, I need something to do. It's actually kind of relaxing and enjoyable taking it all apart and putting it back together again. I am loving the way Toyota put all this stuff together.

Interesting article..

"Usually a tired tensioner causes a telltale rattling sound in the front of the engine right after start-up. Also, revving the engine may diminish this rattling, but the noise never goes away completely. By the time this rattle appears, there's probably 1 /4 in. of movement in that tensioner plunger. If you decide to reuse the existing tensioner, you can retract it quickly and safely with Schley Products' compressing tool Part No. 97300 (or equivalent). "

Good Article - must read for this job.

OK, after a long week of breaking sockets.. I finally got my Crank bolt out. Apparently, the previous mechanic put some kind of epoxy to keep the bolt from coming out. It looked like JB weld, and it was smeared on every thing.. This harmonic balancer/bolt fought us every step of the way.. Finished it up when Rob, Randy, and Justin came over for new years with a great 19mm socket. Below are some photo's..

Aftermath..

Once it was cleaned, and reassembled.. the engine was very quiet. It sounds better than a brand new engine.. :D

I'm not sure what they put on that crank bolt, but it sure was a pain to get off. Glad it is running good now.

What finally removed it? Good old fashion muscle and a quality socket?

Pretty much, I picked up a couple good sockets and Sam put 280 pounds of ass on it. Should have gotten pics of the 1/2" drive Snap-on break over bar, it was at least 18" long to start with and we had a jack handle for a cheater pipe.......it was bending to the point where I wanted to take cover to avoid shrapnel. The bolt "popped" for at least 2 full revolutions before it started coming out smoothly. That bolt was CRAZY tight. The last ass hole who worked on it wasn't fucking around!

That is no lie.. You should have seen the very first revolution, I gave up that night and came back the next night.. that's when I started snapping sockets.

I hope you don't frag it on the trail, cuz then that SOB will be you.. :D

Pulled the bumper off last night, going to grind and try to install my ARB before the cub scout meeting tonight.
Anyone need a bumper?
