Frack me..
Gigitty, I still haven't checked what ratio I have in the 4Runner. I need to pull the front diff anyway so I'll check. If it's 4.30, then I'll send the rear 3rd on over.

That is awesome Drew! I am not sure if it is 4.30 or 4.10... 4wheelparts didn't believe me so he is checking with toyota and going to call me back. Too much money, looks like I can't afford to regear and can't even afford a replacement! ouch..

Business really needs to pick up!

Does it still drive? Best way to know the ratio is to pull the 3rd, and since you'll be replacing it anyway...

Sam, there is a website (I don't recall what it is now) but it will dissect your VIN and tell you what gears are in it. I did it with my old 85 Yota and it told me a ton about it. But I don't recall what the site is. I'm sure Google can help.

Yes is still drives, but the popping is getting worse.. I thought I grenaded it today when I put it in Drive.

I found a listing on Steve Sonoran's website, he is a 3rd gen guru.. it listed two different ratios.. 4:30 & 4:10.. i guess they changed in mid production. hell, I could probably count the teeth in the pictures from installing the locker on my build thread. I didn't pull the 3rd today because I needed to mow the yard and didn't want grass in everything.

There is 41 teeth on the ring gear, can't seem to count the pinion. I am looking all over for the freaking axle ratio code to no avail.. going to have a drink, then count again.. :D
anyone see it?

I still think Axle code A30A is 4.10

That chart that Sean posted is for pre 1995.5 toyotas

ok, counted it.. 10 teeth on the pinion, and 41 on the ring.. so, 4.10 it is. Local shop quoted me 637 out the door. g2 ring gear, 10 year warranty. Looks like I am going to be hounding craigslist for a while. People please keep an eye/ear out for me.

Frack me..
OK, bought a used third from another member on T4R for $100.00, got it yesterday. Swapped the Locker into the new (to me) third last night and installed it this morning. Just got back from a test drive, everything works like it's supposed to and it doesn't make any more noise. On to the next "fix it" project.. the A/C.

on a side note, if anyone needs help in H-town with one of these..let me know!
