That's Mr Asshole to you
I am going to sweeten the pot for everyone going. I need to make room in my freezer for this upcoming hunting season. I will bring the rest of my deer steaks and wild pork chops. I have a pretty good amount of meat so this should help feed us. I have complete confidence Drew will contribute a tuna and marlin so we should all bring a sharp fillet knife.

If anyone is catching a hammerhead it's me! That is the 1 shark I would love to catch.
If Drew has any skills he will pull a Goliath Grouper from the surf.

Those lifetime licenses are pretty cool. My dad was going to buy me one for my 18th birthday but that was about the time my first truck got totaled so he just paid the difference in the new truck and insurance check. I'll probably buy the supercombo again this year and try to get the lifetime one next year.

We can swing through the TPW visitor center in LakeJackson, they have Gordy the grouper. He is about 300lbs....lol

The life time combo was $1000 but it went up to $1800 last year. I would like to get a life time license but it would take about 20 years to break even. I will just stick to the super combos.

These picture should help get everyone in the mood. 10 days and counting.

Looks fun, but my fishing gear is staying at home, I don't really want to dump my high dollar shimano freshwater bass stuff off in the gulf for some good salt water treatment.

I'm the same way. I am borrowing some gear from a buddy so my bass gear stays in good shape.

I may go pick up some cheap stuff from a garage sale or wally world for it, trouble is I've never seen circle hooks around and I hear that it's the only way to go for saltwater. Maybe I just pick one to sacrifice for the salt water, I've got one or two abu garcias that I wouldn't mind destroying. What sort of line should I string up, what gear (weights, leaders, swivels, hooks.......) should I bring?

I learned a lot about surf fishing the last time I went to PINS. I spooled up with mono but realized the reels did not hold enough line so I am going to pick up a 300 yard spool of Power Pro braid. I will probable get 30lb test and use 20lb mono for backing. I have 3 rod holders for the sand.
The key to fishing for sharks down there is getting your rig out past the first few sandbars. I used a 4oz weight with those prongs that fold out. For a leader I used some pre-made ones with the swivels already in place. My set up seemed to work well except there was sooo much sea weed and it kept getting caught up on my line and bait.
I have to stop in Rockport at my buddies house to pick up those rods. There is a really cool store there called Tackle Town. That is where I got a pack of those circle hooks. I would probable wait and get hooks and weights there. Most places up here have very little for salt.
I think I have enought leaders if you want to use a few.

Pitter Patter. Lets Get at Er
Got off the 24th and don't have to teach that weekend so I'll be heading down on Friday...is this a rain or shine meet?

I'll go rain or shine, as long as there's no hurricane.

hell yeah, I figure if its raining I'll just sleep in the runner. And I'm (hopefully) bringing a propane grill so we won't have problems grillin if it rains
