The 12v Fridge/Freezer Thread

Turns out another Georgia guy on TW has been doing pretty much the same research that I have, so we've been talking about the different options. He's the one that pointed me to ICECO the first time and then found the discount code....AFTER purchasing yesterday with a different discount code. So he is seeing if they will either refund the difference or cancel his order and let him get in on the Group Buy. Either way, I know someone getting one and I'm probably going to jump on the bandwagon too.

I plan on getting this one, if the 25% off is true.

That's Mr Asshole to you
The 25% off on those fridges makes it very tempting to spend half of what most of the other fridges are going for. Guess its time t wait till the 14th and see if the code works.

Someone buy one and do a review. :)
Better yet... Find 2 people that bought one and has used it for a season. Fhen have a Zoom interview them. Otherwise you get these reviews that drive home "what a great purchase I made." You know, like tire reviews that were made after someone just bought $1500 worth of tires and haven't driven 10 miles!

After discount, $425 is really not much of a risk, 0.0014 is a very small amount consider some of my short trades, lol

I'm now on the fence for what size I want to get. That JP40 will likely win for me too.

The JP30 is appealing because it would likely fit behind the 3rd row in the Expedition and not take up much room in the Tacoma. The flip side is that 32QT is about 29L and I felt like the ARB 37L that we had before was a little small on the inside.

The JP40 will be a little bit bigger than the ARB, but I'm thinking should be roughly the same size externally.

Considering we are now a family of 5, the larger space would be good for a few nights camping. So I'd ultimately love to get something larger like the JP50, VL45 or VL60.

I also have to keep in mind that the fridge could be used as a freezer for things we want to keep cold and dry and I can always take a cooler for cold drinks. That being said, I would love to get a dual zone mack daddy, but I already know my wife isn't going to go for that!

After the 25% discount, the JP40 should be $396.75 shipped with cover and will have a 5 year warranty. So in typing all that, I think I just convinced myself that I need the JP40. The VL45 is likely the other contender at $419.25, but several people on ih8mud said that theirs arrived with dents from shipping and it doesn't come with the insulated bag.

The ARB has a pull off lid, nice feature JP40 lid not removable?

I asked on Amazon. Seems the ICECO team is pretty responsive there, so we'll see if they respond. I do see screws in some of the pictures, so I would assume that it is.

I also found this one interesting. You can tell that English is not the native language of whoever answers, but nice to see the mfg state that it is weatherproof. I'm surprised they didn't say "resistant" instead of "proof."

Q: When using outdoors, will it harm the unit if it rains? Is it "outdoor/weather proof?"
A: Thanks for your question! The ICECO JP50 is able to operate in harsh conditions. So definitely it is rainproof and weatherproof.

The ARB lid just pulls off, for easy access, I don't think those ICECO lids do

You see ARB's on open trailers and in beds all the time exposed to the elements, but the manual still states to keep out of the weather.

thats prob due to their lack of knowledge concerning the English language. even I slip up from time and say "proof" when the items are not and English is my native language. you also set them up for failure with how you phrased your question lol

in any instance anyone can say anything like that ~ without the proper testing, vetted/standardized testing system, and posted results I take nothing they have said as actual truth.

I don't think they do either, but figured it was worth asking just in case. I got a response from a customer that said they inspected theirs after me asking the question and that it doesn't look possible without disassembly because the control panel is right there at the hinge.

Yeah, I wasn't taking their comment as gospel. If there was a warranty claim, I doubt "you answered a question on Amazon that it was weatherproof" would be a valid argument for why my fridge stopped working when I had it in the back of a truck that went full submarine mode.
