This sounds like your best bet to me.Was there any metal shavings on your drain plug? I'd just fill it up and see how it goes. Maybe in a hundred miles drain it and check the drain plug. But if its hosed from your 150 mile jaunt then another 100 miles for testing can't cause too much more trouble.
