The Home Improvement Thread

Maybe not a home improvement but I am adding something to the garage for entertainment value. A 1/43 slot car setup! I have about 45' of track (current pics show about 17-18' of track) so I'll be building a large 5-6' x 10' platform that will raise and lower from the ceiling. Add some AstroTurf and somehow fix the track to the table. Got some ideas for it. Little one thinks it's fun as shit right now. I ordered 5 extra cars for the setup, 2 of them are from Disney Cars so it can be used for little ones to race with and have fun.

Missed that. Very cool. I still have a strong anchor for the HO 917s I had growing up. :) :D

I got the platform built, needs to be covered and the pulley system attached. Awaiting the pulley system components. It will sorta go in the location it's at now. I also ordered another set that includes 2 loops and some nice high bank curves. It will be here next Monday and then it will have about 80' of track. Going to do it multi level in spots. But it entertained 4 little girls last night.

Ok slot car track is sorta out of control now. Platform has gray indoor outdoor carpet on it. Metal frame with pulleys is build, painted and mounted to the ceiling. Warn PullzAll electric winch will be here tomorrow. Cables are attached and cut. Still need to cut to cut to length once winch arrives. Quick trip to Home Depot tonight for a few missing items and it's go time. Then to design a track that uses all the space.

lol awesome! I miss mine. I have it all in a box right now. I'll probably rebuild it when I have a son. I also have a full train set from the 50's or 60's IIRC that was my fathers.

Haaa. Well the boat winch I had bought has a free spool mode. Not good. So I wanted something without freespool. This was what I found. :/ Maybe not the cheapest. But it will work. Wife saw the receipt on the winch and wondered what the total cost was. I didn't tell her. But hey, it s little boy's dream right. LOL. Oh and my daughter wants to race. Game on!!

The battery powered one is about double the cost of the electric one. But the electric one wasn't bad IMO... for what you get.

My buddy gave me these for Christmas today. Man I can't wait to hang them in the garage. Pretty cool IMO.

Very nice.

Just spent 3 and a half hours install a dishwasher. The guy the guy that put the tile locked dishwasher in place. I literally had to cut it out with cutoff wheels and cut the box in half to get it out. Then I had to notche the countertop to get the new one in that had about 2 inches of additional adjustable clearance. It's a rental unit so im not as worried about the notch.

This is the reason I tell people it is sometimes better to biy a home that has never been "improved."

Sorry Roger. That's pretty funny about the dishwasher. I can totally see how they did it though. Almost happened in our old place when I put in granite countertops. Luckily I had enough wiggle room.

Shit happens. Just glad I didn't have to drive back home with a new dishwasher. I already had to go back home to get the grinder and cut off wheels!! lol

So you're saying there's a chance!
Merry freaking Christmas to me... Our clothes washer just took a dump. It stopped draining. I pulled everything apart and everything mechanical is good. So it has to be in the timer/electronics. I was really just hoping the wife's panties got clogged in the drain or something..

Yep! Every other dishwasher I install is like this. I'll be doing it soon to my mom's dishwasher as well since its been showing it's age for the past couple of years.
