Had one of the LED in-pool lights go out. It should be under warranty, if not its $800... not installed.

Well, time to rip out the sink disposal ive been fighting for the last two years. Kitchen flooded today. It clogged and has been sending water that drains from the sink into the dishwasher. We haven't used the dishwasher in over a year so we never noticed. So now I have a moldy nasty dishwasher and it overflowed out of the dishwasher all over the floor. So tomorrow I'm pulling the disposal out and repiping everything without it. I'll never have one again. Been a pain in the dick ever since I bought the house.

Called light manufacturer. They said its only a one year warranty. I promptly told the gal that a one year warranty on an $800 light was pretty weak, especially since I know someone else who's $800 light went out (I have 3 of these stupid things). Anyhow, she ignored me. I called my pool installer and they said they warranty for 3 years... score. But due to Wuhan Fluhan they are like 40 days out.. IDGAF... just fix it when you can.

Get one, just get a monster one, one that you are afraid to go near. Put the biggest baddest one Homer Despot had in my old house, it was quiet as shit... almost scary quiet... like it needed to shine light out of it to let you know it was on. New house had a nice one from the get-go. But if it takes a shit I'll just go buy another monster from HD and not worry about it.

I second this.

You are more likely to get a clogged drain without one. Plus, no one wants a house that doesn't have a disposal or dishwasher, so getting rid of it all together will potentially hurt resale value/interest.

Not "home" improvement, but since I live in my office.....

New 65" Samsung hanging, now I have to rearrange my shelves etc and move some other stuff around.

I did end up replacing it. Not because I wanted to but it was much easier/faster to swap it out than to find all the pieces I needed to replace under the sink. It was a lot more expensive though. Was going to go with a Moen 1hp with a 10 year warranty that had built in motion lights to help see under the sink cabinets and such. But the closest place that had one in stock was an hour away. So I went with an Insinkerator 3/4hp with a 9 year warranty. Its much quieter than the old one and makes it look like a kids toy. As long as I can get this one to last until we're out of this house, I'll be happy. We have a plan to be out in the enxt 3 years.

Make sure the drain hose to the dishwasher is like this pic or it'll flood again from the new disposal.

Even better, install an air gap.

Or just remove it and stop dumping shit down the drain that don't belong lol

Never had a disposal in my life, don't see the point. Seems to me all I ever hear from people that have them is complaining.

We have one and rarely use it because were on septic, 99% time a strainer is the bottom and it’s emptied out often into the trash.

Get your expensive solution outta here! lol but yeah you can do that as well since it's code (although a lot of inspectors allow the line to be tied up).

This is the first one I've ever had as well. Never had any issues without one. But I'll give this big bad solution a try. If I have problems again, its going in the trash.

At my parents we never had one being on septic and same with my house. Got used to life without one. Not too difficult. I throw all my scraps out in the backyard farm field lol

That's Mr Asshole to you
Best friend closed on a house on Monday. Been taking loads of stuff over after work. Get there wednesday and the entire inside is flooded. Toilet supply line broke. Water from inside was seaping out between brick and foundation. The living room floor is literally floating in 4 inches of water. Boxes of stuff that we had been putting in each room all got wet. His sons mattress, TV, and random other stuff all got soaked.
