Not a fan of textured walls but I'm pleased with today's efforts to hide the 70 years worth of life these have lived.

Just wish I was skilled enough to do a good diy skim coat to fix them properly.

This is a close up of the only dry spot. It's not as aggressive in person.

Also doing 4 walls shot my humidity up from 28% to 55% so that's a plus lol

In terms of smells the past two days

Kilz2 > watered down high glue mud > sw painteres edge flat

The kilz wasnt bad. The mud smelled like mud. Just finished a ceiling and closet with some leftover basment paint (sw pe) and holy cow I'm almost seeing double.

Outside now enjoying some fresh air.

For interior colors we went to Restoration Hardware, they had some really cool colors. Anyhow they also sell little sample cans (tiny.. maybe 2" in diameter and 2" tall).. anyhow, wife tested out like 10-12 colors and then we took the tester paints to Home Depot for them to mimic. Saved a shit-ton over the price of RH paints.

Well seems RH does not sell paint any longer. Disregard. :)

I'll be sticking to light neutral "popular" trending colors. I'll pick something I like but that wont be the main factor. Happy buyer is #1. Me liking it is just kinda a plan b if I get stuck here lol

Looks great.

Just finished cutting in the closet so I can put all the shelving back.

This stuff smells sweet like cotton candy.

Much better on the lungs it seems.

That painters edge cheapo stuff I put of the ceiling and closet was brutal. Only thing good about the cheap stuff is it has the lowest sheen I could find at 2% so it hides imperfections great.

i used the wireless system, guardian. They put as many sensors as you want and you pay a flat rate. No running wires is nice, plus the master brain control runs on LTE and has battery backup so it will always call in a break in even if you lose power. $50 a month is worth it for me. They recently came in and upgraded the transmitter to 5G capable since guberment seems to think that’s where we are headed soon

I have some Ring cameras and doorbell that are staying with the house when we sell. So I'm looking at options for the new house. I've never had any issues with my current setup but looking at other systems for the new house as well. Would be interested in your opinion on the Ring security system as a whole.

Ring has all that and you can get it monitored as well with different companies.

So far from what I have read, from doing a DIY setup, ring is one the top rated.

possibly, but I don’t want to witness my house getting robbed over wifi. I don’t want to see who’s at my front door unless I can personally bury them lol

what app does ring use to monitor and do they charge a monthly fee? I guess I’m asking the same shit you are. Nobody bothers me at my place and they’d end up at the bottom of a ditch coming by here unwelcomed, but I’m curious on different options myself. Guardian I don’t have to worry about anything and I’ve drunk tested their alarms by accident….they call the cops quick lol

Ring has their own app you can use to monitor cameras, doorbell, motion sensors, etc on your own. But you can also pay $30 a month to have it monitored by their service. They will call the cops, fire department, etc on their own.

hmmm. Maybe should sign up for the ring. The problem is I don’t have any locality here and the cops are staties to begin with. I’ve been doing the math and figuring letting the alarm go for the one time some idiot comes by. I have friends they also live near here and wouldn’t allow that kind of behavior to happen. I feel like I’d rather get robbed and have have an excuse to burry the monkey than to come home to a BS insurance claim.
