Oh hey you can get 20% off one if you are in the market for a $3000+ tool box. :)

I guess its due to tariffs.. which to be honest did not exist (in the amount they do today) when the initial pricing went out.

My new mechanic just picked up a three drawer, flip lid, roll cart from HF. Its actually pretty nice, but it got it in white lol

I really love my HF US General tool boxes... I mean for the $$ they are awesome. Earlier this year I saw that HF was going to create a new line aimed to compete with the tool truck boxes. They looked awesome!! Then I saw specs on them and they are pretty awesome. But now I see the prices... and while they are a fraction the price of a tool truck box they are WAY out of my league. As you can see the price of the base box went WAY up... like $1500 up.

Only problem there are gonna have is that pricing is now in that bracket where most mechanics don't have that kind of cash sitting around where they can actually just go pay for it. The plus for them with the snap on boxes is the $50/week payments no big money upfront. They don't care it's gonna take them 30 years to pay it off. I don't know of anyone that actually paid for a snap on box upfront

I agree.. but I also read that HF was going to have a 0% financing for the boxes. A friend of mine spent close to $20k (got a deal!! ) on his Matco boxes...the thing is HUGE.. no way you can get to the top without a tall stepstool.

One of my neighbors is Matco driver/salesman... never will I need or even ask the cost for any tool from him, lol.

Well then. Won't be long now before the harbor freight truck starts showing up at your local mechanic shop lol

Those pliers on the top left in the picture appear to be similar to the ones used for CV clamps, don't they? That price is certainly good, but I don't want to throw it away to determine that I need nicer ones down the road.

Here are the ones I'm leaning towards: GearWrench 3955 CV Boot Clamp (upgrade frm 424) 82171039553 | eBay
After breaking two sets of those (they weren't Gear Wrench branded but the same design) I ordered this one from Knipex. I haven't had a change to use it yet though.

I wouldn't worry about it. I bought the right tool for CV clamps and I still used stainless hose clamps. :D

Guy i work with paid cash for two of them. He bought one off the truck then ordered the second one to match. This is also the guy who cut a check for a ZR1 lol

Those pliers in that add are not CV pliers. They are end-nippers. They're meant for cutting, not plier-ing. Sorry, the proper word escaped me.

Good to know. I'm going to pass on them. That price falls into the too good to be true category. I'd rather not throw away that money and have to order a decent pair. I'll just fork out the right amount up front.

Thats also how Hilti's business model works and why I see them on so many large commercial jobs. They basically 'lease to buy' tools to you if you can't afford them upfront. I'd assume a great deal of their profit margins come from leasing to buy.
