Check craigslist, Facebook marketplace or call around to Antique shops to see if they have any old heavy duty vises for sale.

Checked a little bit ago. Best I found was a Wilton Bullet Vise for $300.

The others looked to be junk that someone spraypainted to look new. Pass.

They are hard to find. My dad got his big one from the township when there was a tornado that came though and fucked up the maintenance facilities building. Well tornado fucked up more than just the maintenance facilities building. Anyhow, they decided to buy all new shit with the insurance money and my dad was on the cleanup team, asked what they wanted for it. They said take it. They still had the receipt for the thing somewhere which is how he found out its initial cost back in the 20's.

My neighbor picked up a old Columbia vise of CL, made in 1904. Decent shape.. guy wanted $200, he paid $100. Its very similar to my Morgan, machinist vise.

"Oswego" is mostly known for being a small town in upstate NY.

I chose it because it's also the cleanest lake in NJ and my favorite. Crystal clear spring fed lake in the middle of nowhere full of duck blinds you can take a break in.

I was hoping for an OK small tape, but I'm not impressed...

a little play is OK, but WTF Milwaukee. Loosest tape Ive ever seen outside of HF type no name junk. Just another novelty item I guess.

So I did a deep dive over the weekend on tape measures and I'm a moron

The Milwalkee has a ton of play because the blade is thicker than I'm used to in small tapes, so I need to reverse my potatoe opinion.

It's pretty much perfect when I compared it to my Stabila measuring laser.
