Would I be a traitor if I bout a trail rig? Looking at that Blazeland long travel ultimate kit for $1500 makes me jealous. How much money do you think I'd need to raise to get something in the 3.4L variety?

bout 5 grand to do it all, if you want a 3.4 the runner will be cheap cause you can buy one with a crapped engine/transmission 1000-2000, then about a 1000 on the 3.4 and another 500 or so for the trans then maybe 2-300 for an adapter plate to get the t-case to bolt up to the tranny then your blazeland LT 1500. I think it could be done for around 5 grand.

I don't know shit about the 3.4L engines/ transmissions. Do the 4x4s have different tail housings, or can I buy a 2wd pull off the tail housing and get a Lefty.

I don't think you are a traitor. I wheeled the shit out of my Taco, I just got tired of dumping $1000's into repairs. Now I just look at the Taco as a very capable daily driver. :)

Well it depends on what you want with the 3.4. Figure the first gen Taco's with the 3.4 are crazy $$ but like Randy said, the 4Runners are a little more reasonable.

Yea tail housing is different, but I don't know if the housing is once piece or two, need to have somone with a prerunner take a look at it. No lefty for the old stuff it is all passenger drop, straight gear driven case but they need a special adapter from either marlin or inchworm to bolt up to the tacoma trans.

I was talking about an older yota say mid 80s and swapping a 3.4 into it

Do you think I would even need a V6? I'm not much for mud, and that's about the only thing you really need wheel spin for. You guys still like your 22REs?

22RE is good but for a 4 banger I like the 3RZ much better.

Fucking ay! You gonna buy it? I think the bed is a little long, but hey thats nothing a grinder can't fix. :)

As for the name, I think White Trash is more fitting. :D

I've always been a fan of efficient power. How do you think an SC 22RE would match up against the 3.4?

Poorly, the 22RE is just not gonna be a powerfull engine. The 3.4 is just a lot of motor to stick behind the 7.5" standard rotation front end. The 22REs work so well in older yotas because they are weak with gears more than enough power to get up and over stuff but not enough to really destroy things unless you just have ridiculous size tires.

Nice, but bet rid of that extra super duper huge flat bed. I'm supprised the rear springs can even hold that thing up it must weigh 1000 lbs or better.

I'll run this 22re until it dies. Or I have 40's and can't turn them any more. :) But for what I do, low speed, the 22re is perfect. Swapping in a 3.4 would be cool.. but if I ever do a swap it will be for a 4.3 or a 5.3.

5.3 would be super duper cool, even a completely stock one makes like 300hp300tq and they are abundant. Trouble is once you have one you really need one tons

Yeah, with the 5.3 I'd need an axle upgrade for sure!
