I finally painted that rear passenger door. Used the paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ Bought the sandable/filler primer, basecoat and gloss clearcoat. It turned out pretty good, not perfect but from more than 3-4 feet away you can't tell. I need to break out the polisher and give it the once over after I let the clearcoat harden longer.

Then I had some bodyguy pull out the dents and make it smooth. I then painted it.

Looks good Sean, Drew you need to hit that place up and see if you can get some color matching for your truck.

Nice fix Sean.

Threw on a TRD centercap for my spare and wired up some PIAA 510's for the damn dark rides home from work. No motivation to swap front suspension today...maybe tomorrow after work.

I got 90% of the scratches out, I can probably hit it again with the polisher and get them out. I still need to do the roof, it feels like 600 grit. But that touchup paint system they sell really works. Best $50 I've spent in a while.

When you did the clear, did you do the whole door or just the spot? Did you use one of those spray paint 'softeners' before clearing?

I did from the body line and down. I tried to feather in the silver a little to have it blend better. I didn't use anything to soften the paint, I just used the sand-able/filler primer, then I went with 800 grit over the primered areas and then 1000 grit over the clearcoat on the rest of the panel. Hit it with some mineral spirits and a rag and then finally the cleaner product they sold me was applied just before I used the base coat and then clear coat. Their base coat goes on flat and you let it dry about 30 minutes. Then you hit it with 3-4 wet coats of clear... at first I didn't get what they meant by "wet coats" but if you hold the can too far back the clear actually dries in the air before it hits the panel, so you want to hold it a little closer and get it 'wet'. :) I do have one little area where I got it too wet and I have a slight run, but its barely noticeable and they said I can use rubbing polish to knock it down.

or you can hit with 1k grit again using water then buff back the shine

Postman delivered some switches... Since the front ARB uses that Contura switch I thought I'd see about swapping all to be like that. I was planning to pull the OEM inverter switch (since that things sorta a joke) and replace it with a on-off switch for my 2500 watt inverter, but it will not fit in the hole. <doh> So I am going to try and modify the red "lightning bolt" switch to control the Vector inverter.

Put some new rubber under the front of the Taco, I had already replaced two of the KM2's under the road hazard warranty so they where in great shape, but I wanted to get two new ones so I can have a couple spares. This way I can get rid of that damn Firestone Destination MT on the back. I'm just too cheap to get rid of a brand new tire. LOL So now to get a matching rim and have one of these mounted up and then find a steel OEM rim for the other.

Then I exercised my Firestone lifetime alignment.
