It is pretty tuff, but I have a ton of deep scratches and gouges in mine and sheet steel slide a little better the plastic IMO.

UPS delivered my Duallys. Pretty damn beefy! They weigh a lot more than I anticipated. Now to just figure out where I'm going to put them.

those look kick ass Sean! Work Lights huh? They look like they get stupid hot, their spots right not flood? Wouldn't you want a Flood for a work light?

The skid Jeff made looks to be strong enough for most as is, but it could be bomb proof by welding a few strengthening ribs. If the truck ever came down hard on that skid the 1/8" sheet would probably bend. Only reason I say that is because it is such a long piece.

Yeah, I personally would fold some small 45* wings on the sides. It adds no weight, offers a little wrap around protection, and makes it about a bazillion times stronger.

Edit: That's what I did on the skid I made for the underside of mine.

The actual mounting is what concerns me, the bolts will be hanging down lower then the skid and might get steered off. Needs to be in a recessed area.

I was thinking it would be super easy to weld some 1/8" thick, 1" x 1" angle iron down both sides of it. While it would add alittle weight, it would double the strength. Keith if you want me too, I'd be glad to do a little welding on your new skid

Prob take less than an hour.

They are floods, not spots. As for heat??? They only have a 5 amp fuse so I doubt it's too much heat. But they have a large enough heatsink to keep them cool.

Just got back from Kartek - shock rebuilt kits, oil, shock wrenches... Now to find out what valving I have in there!!!
