Weld a nut to the hex bolt?I almost ordered one just now but have no complaints with the oil drain deal - it's the diff deal. I will have to find out the size and then order one, or braze one up myself by combining a brass drain plug and a ball valve. Thanks for that - great idea.
Has anyone mentioned this week how Toyota needs to take a lesson from Honda on drain plugs. Man!!! They suck balls!!! Well, I guess I suck balls too. Cause although I welded a bolt to the drain plug, it must not have been a grade eight and that bitch twisted off. Oh yeah, I had a 2' breaker bar but that sucker is stuck in there. I'm supposed to leave for DV in the morning so I really don't have time to eff with it - or worse yet get half-way through a project like that.
Anyway, front breaks, new CV axles, changed the front diff fluid - by using a vaccum to suck out what didn't come out when I took the axles out. I know there was some water logged fluid left in the diff - I used a small curved hose to get as deep as I could but I am certain, there is still some in there. Does anyone know how much fluid it takes to top off the front diff when the axles are taken out? I've never really noticed. I put about 2 quarts of diff fluid in, so I'm sure I probably have about quart of shit fluid in the diff and 2 fresh. I plan on getting that drain plug out when I get back and this trip shouldn't require 4wd that much - I'm thinking about 1/4 max. I'll use 4wd about as much as I use a locker (only when I really need it).
I am very impressed with the quality of the rebuilt axles I got from CJV http://www.cvjaxles.com/ For $99 a pop (plus $50 for OE boots), I think they are a bargain.![]()
Weld a nut to the hex bolt?

Oh I didn't read that part.
Weld a nut to the hex bolt?
That was me that mentioned that  the front diff is 2 quarts so if you filled up 2 then it was pretty much empty
He did, said it sheared off![]()
Well not so much what I did... But what I'm now doing. My daughter spilled a bottle of Apple juice in my passenger front seat. Luckily the leather prevented the seat from soaking any up... It just soaked into the carpet. So now it's getting cleaned. Luckily it's 35* out... At least it won't stink too bad while I'm cleaning it up.
Oh OK.I have Weathertechs... it missed it. Seat was moved forward about 4" or so. Its not bad now though. It cleaned up good.
that sucks then
