Frack me..
Bianca took the truck to Toyota dealer this morning. I have had a noise in the front Driver's side.. after Long's ranch. It WAS only when towing and full throttle. Then, when towing and anytime I hit the gas from a stop.. it appears to be whenever the Front noise lifts up.. now if I am not towing and floor it... it makes the noise.

took it in this morning, they just called me and said I need a 1400$ driveline to fix the problem. "Are you F-ing kidding me" There is no way that noise in the FRONT UNDER ACCEL is the drive line. Dumbasses! I have a corkscrew scratch on my driveline from Long's Ranch.. I seriously doubt it can cause that noise in the front. it sounds kind of like an ABS pump when you slam on the brakes, but it is only coming from the driver front under acceleration from a stop. When I first heard it.. I thought it was rock or something that got in there somehow. I took the tire off and looked, couldn't find the rock.. any ideas?

Don't feel bad - I had a speed sensitive vibe after some 'updates' done by BMW (a car I have since sold) where they replaced the power steering 7 times, flywheel (they were getting closer) (then the starter engaged on its own while I was driving so they had to replace the ring gear and added some very tacky, no seal type squeeze on connectors) and then BAM - the tranny seal they 'updated' had pinched the bearing and fried the trans! Man did they fuck up that car! I was so effen pissed. They agreed to buy the car back but I got such a smoking deal on it I wanted it returned as it was (KBB about $30k and I paid $21 cause the guy needed that much to close on his house - didn't know the guy and it was years before I got into real estate).

Dealers! There are very few out there that don't use their Stealer ship as a strongarm against their customers!

On the first 'repair' of the power steering pump, I took the car to a parking lot, removed the belt to the power steering and brought the car back and wanted to take them on a test drive to show that it had nothing to do with the power steering. They told me that they were the mechanics and I was the customer - HOW EFFED UP!

sam it very well could be the same noise my truck was making after i sat down on the transfer case, only did it under hard accel, like a grinding rubbing noise, for me it turned out to be the little shitty piece of sheet steel that is some sort of guard on the front drive shaft as it exits the transfer case. mine eventually grinded itself down enough that it doesnt do it any more. does it make the noise even if you are in 4wheel drive?

Quick way to find out is to drop your rear drive shaft and drive in 4wd. If the sound goes away, then it's your driveshaft. I'd recommend doing a one piece CV driveshaft instead of paying the dildos at the dealership to fix it.

I know for a fact that this isn't it because I have the samething on mine. It's more like someone ran it through a lathe...lol

Yeah, 2wd or 4wd either way. it's only when the driver front lifts higher off the ground. The LR UCA's had a rubber boot on them, and that Rubber boot does NOT have the Metal clip to hold it tight.. I seriously doubt a rock could get in there, and cause "that" noise.. what do yall think? otherwise, I guess I will just pull the tire off again and re-inspect.

I thought about that, but have never done it. you drove yours for a while like that didn't you? I might try that this weekend. I will not buy another TOY driveshaft, If i had to buy a brand new one.. it's going to be Tom Woods, or get one made by a shop..

yeah, mike looks like yours too.. I knew someone had the same thing with no noises.. it was you! Do you guys think the CV angle could cause a squirrely noise like that? Front end is fairly high and while towing, if you floor it.. it looks like a BRO rig.. :)

BTW, for those that don't know.. we are talking about my 2nd gen DC taco..

Keith's truck DOES have vibs in his driveline from take off. And it's worse when you're towing. As someone who had a ridiculous time diagnosing my driveline vibs (remember it sounded like my T-Case was broken or something), I beg you to remove that rear shaft and give it a drive in Fwd.

Ok, but only because you begged... :D First thing tonight, pull the shaft and drive in 4wd. just disconnect at the tranny and differential/cb and remove it huh?

But I had that way before long trip/lathe work on drive shaft...lol
Maybe I need to get those axle shims from toytech

Mine was pretty freaking annoying.. CB drop helped a lot.. still had the 7-10mph vibe, after the 3degree shims, it was gone.

I have the CB drop already, looks like I will de ordering some shims today then.
Also I'm kinda on the fence with UCA's not sure if I really need to upgrade or not.

yeah they get seized on there pretty good sometimes. I just pulled the one on Clyde a few night ago... it was TIGHT! Broke out the 45oz deadblow to persuade it to loosen up. :)
